    VISUAL SEARCH APPLICATION FOR ANDROID

    Get PDF
The Search Engine has played an important role in information society. Information in the form of text or a visual image is easily available over the internet. The Visual Search Engine aims at helping users locate and rapidly get information about their items of interest. The Visual Search Engine takes input in the form of keywords or visual images and provides information about destinations, artworks, books, wine, branded items, product’s catalogs, etc. The main goal of this project was to create a Visual Search Algorithm that can find matching images based on an input image’s features or key-points. We have also focused on researching new techniques and applied them to optimize the proposed algorithm and its integration with Android mobile client. The project’s end product is an Android Mobile Visual Search Application, which will function as follows: User clicks a picture of his/her desired item. Application recognizes what that item is, using the Visual Search Algorithm. Application gets the user’s location and based on the user’s current location, it will provide a list of stores nearby him/her of the desired item with its price

Bat House Environmental Factors affecting Bat Activity

    Get PDF
A bat house helps play a vital role in survival and providing optimal roosting conditions for bats. The conditions when setting up a bat house have varying effectiveness in the success of bat occupancy and activity. In this study, many elements, such as environmental factors, placement of bat houses, and materials used, were observed with differing levels of significance regarding bat activity to find the most notable factors for a thriving bat house. Three different parks in Nashville, Tennessee, and their corresponding bat house were observed to measure how these factors would affect bat activity for the vastly different areas. Kaleidoscope and iTree canopy were utilized to analyze the bat activity and find the composition of the parks. Bat houses are an essential resource to prevent the endangerment of bats in the United States and to improve the fitness of bat populations

This study aimed to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on depression and how different age groups and socioeconomic classes were affected. The PHQ-9 survey was used to assess depression levels amongst 64 individuals of different age groups and socioeconomic statuses. Results indicated that the higher socioeconomic class had less impact on depression symptoms compared to lower socioeconomic classes. Younger age groups and lower socioeconomic classes were found to have a bigger impact on depression symptoms. However, the study acknowledges that numerous factors, such as lifestyle factors, financial stability, and social support, need to be considered while interpreting the results. Overall, the study suggests the need for more research to control more independent variables to better understand the impact of COVID-19 on depression
