    Dohsa Treatment to Improve Balance in Elderly People: An Evaluation of a Family-Based Rehabilitation Programme

    Objectives: In this research we evaluate an individually family-based Dohsa exercise programme of balance in the aged people and its effect on self confidence for performing common daily tasks with less falling could be influenced by training. Methods: From a residential care center, five aged person were participated in this study. They were trained by Dohsa method for six weeks. Two types of Dohsa-hou were used: Relaxation and Tate-kei. Tate-kei was the task which required them to control their body vertically against gravity. Results: The results indicated that most of them had improved their balance and their confidence for doing their daily activities without falling in a better way. Discussion: The Dohsa family based rehabilitation program could improve their balance and increase their activity by not falling down. The family based programme can be a useful program for rehabilitation therapists in their therapy with aged people to improve their life skills and well beings

    Relation with students from the perception of teachers in junior high school : On the comparison of Japanese with Korean

    The purpose of the present study is to investigate the relationships with students from the perception of teachers in junior high school and compare Korean teachers with Japanese teachers. The Questionnaires were administered to 81 Korean teachers and 51 Japanese teachers in junior high school. The results are as follows. 1) The Korean and Japanese teachers showed 2 common factors by factor analysis understanding against students, a difficulty of guiding for students. In addition, the only Korean teachers showed the other factor which is strict guiding. 2) The Korean teachers did not indicate the difference of factor\u27s scores among the group which is classified according to career. On the other hand, the Japanese teachers showed the difference of all factor\u27s scores according to length of career

    The effects of back ground music on the play therapy situation between the therapist and child with communication disability

    The purpose of this study was to empirically investigate the effect of the Back. Ground Music (BGM) on the facilitation of communication behaviors. The subjects were children with developmental disabilities. In the first study, the BGM was arranged to facilitate the active behaviors in the child, and examined the variability in comparison with the other. In the second study, the experiment was conducted. The subjects were children with autism and the like, preschool or elementary school children. The play therapy situation was performed with the BGM, and the children\u27 s communication behaviors and continuous play time were measured. As a result, it became clear that the active BGM facilitated the children\u27 s ‘cooperative behaviors’for the therapist and continuous play time. These results suggest that the active BGM is helpful to facilitate the relationship between child and the therapist

    An analysis of the identity-reconstruction of caregivers in family nursing for the eldery

    The purpose of this study was to investigate identity-reconstruction of caregivers in family nursing for the elderly. Five kinds of questionnaires were given to 101 caregivers who had joined caregiver self-help groups. The results were summarized as follows: (1) There was a strong correlation found for the scores of identity-reconstruction of family caregivers and the scores ofrelationship-reconstruction between caregivers and their eld ers. (2) Inter-family relationships did not have any significant effect on either of the scores ofidentity-reconstruction or the relationship-reconstruction between caregivers and their elders. (3)The following were suggested as factors that promote the identity-reconstruction from before the start of family caregivers: a) negative relationships with care-receivers before family nursing; b)high levels of caregiving needs among the elders. (4) The following were suggested as factors that promote relationship-reconstruction between caregivers and their elders: a) the extent of the provivion of caregiving information within the caregiver self-help groups; b)high levels of caregiving needs among the elders

    The relationship between \u27self-esteem\u27 and \u27hope\u27 in children\u27s institutions

    The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between \u27 Hope\u27, \u27Self-Esteem,\u27 and \u27Basic-Trust\u27 in children living in child institutions. Using questionnaires and interviews, data were collected from 242 elementary school children, including 42 children from child institutions. Three kinds of questionnaires were used in order to measure their psychological consciousness: \u27 Hope,\u27 \u27Self Esteem,\u27 and \u27 Basic trust.\u27 The results were as follows. (1)\u27Hope\u27 was most influenced by \u27Self-Esteem\u27 in the children who living in child institutions and home-care-children (2)Children living in child institutions were more interested in \u27rich\u27 and \u27comfortable\u27 lives in the future than the home-care children

    Hypothetical understanding to the child with developmental disabilities from view difference of the interaction experience with the child in university students

    The purpose of this study was to examine the \u22hypothetical understanding\u22 to the child with developmental disabilities from view difference of the interaction experience with the child. Participants in the study were 63 university students and graduate students. Participants replied to the question paper, after watched the VTR of the problem behaviors of the child with developmental disabilities. The examination went from three points. 1) the difference of the interact number of years with the children with developmental disabilities, 2) the difference in the role (therapist or supporter) of time in interact with the children, 3) the difference of the feelings that had when interact with the children. This study found the factor of the \u22hypothetical understanding\u22 is the difference in the role and in the feelings as well as the contact number of years

    Influence of expression style on emotion and physical feelings related to nostalgic experiences

    The Nostalgic Experiences Inventory for measuring the strength of emotion and physical feelings related to nostalgic experiences was developed and the influence of different styles of expression on nostalgic experiences was investigated. Participants were college students (n = 200). Of these, 187 participants wrote about their nostalgic experience and 13 participants verbally described their nostalgic experience. After expressing their nostalgic experience verbally or by writing, all participants completed a questionnaire inquiring emotion and physical feelings that were related to the nostalgic experience. The results suggested that nostalgic experiences included the emotion of \u22affinity\u22 and \u22sweet sorrow,\u22 as well as the the physical feelings of \u22relaxation\u22 and \u22being uplifted.\u22 The method of expressing feelings had no effect on the experience of affinity, whereas it had an effect on feelings of sweet sorrow, relaxation, and being uplifted. These results indicate the need to consider the effect of differences in expression style during memory recollection and also highlight the need to consider the influence of personal experiences during recollection
