Investigations into beam monitors at the AE g ̄ IS experiment
Detailed diagnostic of antiproton beams at low energies is required for essentially all experiments at the Antiproton Decelerator (AD), but will be particularly important for the future Extra Low ENergy Antiproton ring (ELENA) and its keV beam lines to the different experiments. Many monitors have been successfully developed and operated at the AD, but in particular beam profile monitoring remains a challenge. A dedicated beam instrumentation and detector test stand has recently been setup at the AE g ̄ IS experiment (Antimatter Experiment: Gravity, Interferometry, Spectroscopy). Located behind the actual experiment, it allows for parasitic use of the antiproton beam at different energies for testing and calibration. With the aim to explore and validate different candidate technologies for future low energy beam lines, as well as the downstream antihydrogen detector in AE g ̄ IS, measurements have been carried out using Silicon strip and pixel detectors, a purpose-built secondary emission monitor and emulsions. Here, results from measurements and characterization of the different detector types with regard to their future use at the AD complex are presented
Annihilation of low energy antiprotons in silicon
The goal of the AEIS experiment at the Antiproton
Decelerator (AD) at CERN, is to measure directly the Earth's gravitational
acceleration on antimatter. To achieve this goal, the AEIS
collaboration will produce a pulsed, cold (100 mK) antihydrogen beam with a
velocity of a few 100 m/s and measure the magnitude of the vertical deflection
of the beam from a straight path. The final position of the falling
antihydrogen will be detected by a position sensitive detector. This detector
will consist of an active silicon part, where the annihilations take place,
followed by an emulsion part. Together, they allow to achieve 1 precision on
the measurement of with about 600 reconstructed and time tagged
annihilations.
We present here, to the best of our knowledge, the first direct measurement
of antiproton annihilation in a segmented silicon sensor, the first step
towards designing a position sensitive silicon detector for the
AEIS experiment. We also present a first comparison with
Monte Carlo simulations (GEANT4) for antiproton energies below 5 MeVComment: 21 pages in total, 29 figures, 3 table
An optimum land allocation to farm holdings based on zones of disparities concerning distances between homestead areas and land plots
W artykule przedstawiono podstawowe zasady przydziału działek do gospodarstw uwzględniające przebieg stref różnic odległości z siedlisk do działek i rozgraniczających je linii równych różnic odległości. The editorial describes basic rules of allocation of land plots to farm holdings that take under consideration a course of zones of disparities concerning distances between homestead areas and land plots. The borders of considered zones represent an important premise in a process of forming an appropriate allocation of land plots to farm holdings. Location of land plots belonging to two farm holdings within the same zone of distance disparities is a condition for correctness of allocation of plots to the two chosen farm holdings. The said zone divides land plots belonging to those farm holdings. Examples of optimization of farm holdings’ lands as well as routes of lines defining equal disparities of distances showed in this elaboration concern two farm holdings situated in Wojków village
Optimisation of spatial structure exemplified by the village of Filipowice
The developed method of optimising a farmland arrangement system considers
two basic directions when improving the layout of plots and farms: the aim
of bringing farmlands closer to a farmstead site and the aim to improve the size
and shape of plots. The basis for constructing this optimisation model comprises
the division of consolidated land complexes into small elementary strips and the
determination of distances between those strips and farmstead sites. The final result
of the entire optimisation procedure is a complete digital map of a new farmland
arrangement system. With this map, it is possible to compile all the documents
necessary to create a cadastre. The time- and labour consuming processes of
preparing data, constructing the model and solving it have been automated through
the application of relevant software programs, thus, the method developed can be
used in practice. The optimisation principles of farmland arrangement system were
exemplified in the case of the village of Filipowice located near the city of Cracow.
The optimisation performed resulted in, among other things, enlarging the
mean plot area by four times and in bringing it 30% closer to a farmstead site
Determination of shortest route between plots and habitations with the aid network road's graph and along borders of areas drives
Dojazd z siedliska do działki opisany
został grafem obejmującym sieć drogową i przejazdy po terenie
w kompleksach działek. Trasę przejazdu z siedliska do działki określono
jako najkrótszą ścieżkę między węzłami grafu. Przyjęto odpowiednie
zróżnicowanie trudności przejazdu po drogach i po terenie. Przedstawione
i umożliwia praktyczne zastosowanie opracowanej metody. Podane
zasady określanie odległości i trasy przejazdu z siedliska do działek gospodarstwa
na podstawie mapy ewidencyjnej przedstawionej w formie
cyfrowej pozwalają na automatyzację większości procedur obliczeniowych,
a tym samym na zmniejszenie ich pracochłonności. Umożliwia to
In article was presented the method of calculations distances of ground from
habitations on base of numeric map. More in detail was discussed procedures concerning
with shortest route from habitations to plots. Approach from habitation has
been described for graph including road’s network and drives on field in complexes of
areas. The route of drive from habitation to plots was defined as shortest path graph
between its knots. Proper disparity of difficulty of drive after ways and after field was
accepted.
Introduced procedures have been processed at foundation concerning, that relocating
proceed after borders of ways and after balks of plots. The graph describing
relocate between single area and habitation usually does not surpass two thousand
tops. It will not extend time of account excessively and economic application of processed
method will enable.
Served principles counting of distance and routes of drives allow from habitation
for areas of farms on base of information map introduced in the form of numeric
automation of majority computational procedure. This enables counting of distance of
all rural plots from habitation of farms that can present valuable material for estimate
of structure of village and its change. Table of distance of all plots can be taken
at optimization of accommodation of ground in the village
Zones of access to lots with allowance for changes in their lengths and distances between roads
Ustalenie najkorzystniejszego w danym przypadku sposobu dostępności
gruntowego wsi.One of the most important aims of the development process of the ground
lay-out of a village in the course of scale-integration work is to create favourable
functioning conditions in a given rural area . This aim may be achieved by introduction
of a ground lay-out which the most effectively will reduce the costs connected
with cultivation of particular lots belonging to farms. Undoubtedly, one of
the most important factors determining development possibilities of a new ground
lay-out is the rural transport network in a discussed area along with the relevant
issue of selection of a way of road access to the lots.
Determination of the most economical way of road access to the lots in a
particular case is not an evident task because it depends, among others, on the
distance between the roads and the lengths of the lots . These factors are evidently
related and the effect of their mutual interaction on the optimum access to the lots
is a relatively sophisticated issue for calculation reasons.
The presented article shows the results of the research on determination of
limiting values of such lot features as their lengths and areas as well as surface
which should involve a change of a way of road access to the lots. The presented
idea broadens the knowledge in the scope of development of the ground lay-out of
a village
Valuation of using a partition of a village area into equal value elements in a process of optymization of parcels layout
Prezentowany referat przedstawia w skrócie wybrane zagadnienia
topologicznym. Kolejnym etapem jest utworzenie na podstawie określonych
danych wejściowych zbioru elementów o jednakowej wartości.
Zbiór ten jest następnie wykorzystywany do optymalizacji rozmieszczenia
gruntów na badanym obszarze z punktu widzenia zmniejszenia
łącznej długości dróg transportu rolnego. Zasada optymalizacji opiera
poszczególnymi gospodarstwami, aż do uzyskania rozwiązania najlepszego.
wstępnego naboru do kompleksów projektowych. Czynność
ta jest jednym z ważniejszych etapów postępowania scaleniowego. The presented project describes in brief some chosen issues related to using information
included in digital maps for the purposes of automation of some elements
of land consolidation process. Delibe-rations regarding methods of division of the
village area into area elements that can be used for optimization of grounds configuration
on the given area were chosen as an example. Description of concept of division
into equal value elements was specially emphasised. In order to perform such division,
the following ingoing data in a numerical form is necessary: outer boundaries of
areas to be divided into area elements, directions of design lines (determining a layout
of design plots) for each area and boundaries of existing estimated outlines, ie.
areas of equal value defined by participators of land consolidation process. Aforementioned
sets, excluding directions of design lines, have to be corrects in topological
sense. A consecutive stage is, upon defined ingoing data, creation a set of equal value
elements. The set is then used for optimization of deploying plots on a given area
from the standpoint of reducing a all-in length of agricultural transport journey.
A principle of optimization is based on calculation of results of exchanging equal
value elements between respective farms till the best solution is found.
Such optimization can be used in attempts of automation of preliminary
selection of plots. for a designed block. This procedure is one of more important stages
of a land consolidation process
