    International Operations Simulation/Mark 2000 (INTOPIA)

    No full text
INTOPIA is being released at the beginning of 1994. It is a state-of-the-an international business strategy simulation. As such, it incorporates all aspects of management, but is rich enough to be used in marketing, operations, and finance courses. The products, geographical areas, and currencies may be changed by the facilitator. Virtually unlimited transaction freedom among companies: buy and sell, borrow and lend, license patents, hedge currencies, sell plants. No limit on decisions or entrepreneurial opportunities. INTOPIA will be demonstrated at the ABSEL 94 conference

Musings On Business Garne Performance Evaluation

    No full text
In special-purpose business games as well as in numerous simple general management games, a single indicator is often appropriate for evaluating the performance of participating teams. Typically, but far from always, the nature of the performance indicator is fairly self-evident, thought its ultimate rationale may be relatively weak. In more complex functional game and especially in intricate general management simulations, the need for multimeasurement grows, perhaps even faster than the complexity itself This becomes especially evident in games that permit truly entrepreneurial decisions, with concomitant variation in philosophy, scope, and scale of individual companies

Simulation Scenarios - Rationale and Illustration

    No full text
Business games, by and large, are closed systems. That is, participating firms are assumed to operate in one or several self-contained markets, unaffected by market-exogenous events. To provide a vital dimension of realism such events must be added. A series of this kind of events constitute a scenario. In 1993 the first Model Scenario of World events was developed for the International Operations Simulation (INTOPIA). A new INTOPIA Model Scenario of possible events in the 1998-2000 period has just been released
