Ordböckernas roll i svenskans grammatiska standardisering
During the 18th century the status of Swedish changed from a poorly codified vernacularinto a standardized national language. The bilingual Swedish dictionariesplayed an important part in the standardization process. Standardization is one of thephases of language planning, as presented by Haugen. He defines language planningas “the evaluation of linguistic change”. All the aspects of standardization areincluded in the lexical description of the vocabulary presented in the dictionaries: thegraphization, the lexication and the grammatication of the language. As the lexicalperspective puts every single word in focus, the lexicographers had to present agrammatical description that was in many ways superior to what was generallypresented in the contemporary grammars. The effects of standardization are far too often neglected in historical linguistics. The lexicographers did not only evaluate linguistic change; in the long run theirdecisions also affected the very structure of the language. Thus standardization mustbe accounted for in any description of language change in the 18th century Swedishand onwards
Lemman och ekvivalenter i nya roller – en reviderad ordbokstypologi
The source language–target language dichotomy is not valid in the electronic dictionary, where information units in the target language are just as accessible as units in the source language. In this article, the consequences of multiple access in bilingual lexicography and its implications for dictionary typology are discussed. Focus lies on the representation of the target language vocabulary – more precisely on the coverage of the Swedish target language in the online Icelandic–Swedish Islex dictionary. The equivalent lacunas observed are partly due to discrepancies in the lexical structure of the languages involved, partly to the outdated role played by Swedish as target language in the dictionary

Stýft og hvatt - beteckningar for öronmärken på får och deras lexikografiska relevans
In Iceland, the ownership of all sheep is indicated by a system of marks cut in the ears of the sheep. The names of these marks can be regarded as a closed lexical subsystem in the Icelandic language, a subsystem defined by its clearcut relations to phenomena in the "real world" rather than by purely Iinguistic features. In the present paper, the morphology of this lexical subgroup is described. Furthermore, the lexicographic relevance of subsystems established on encyclopedic grounds, primarily, is discussed with respect to the role such subsystems play in dictionaries of ordinary language
Funktioner som försvann: det kontrastiva perspektivet i äldre svensk lexikografi
This article deals with the contrastive perspective in Swedish lexicography in the 19t century. The first complete monolingual dictionary of Swedish, published 1850-1855, dependshlargely on theh bilingual tradition that had been developed during the 18t and early 19t century. In spite of this, it does not exhibit any traces of a contrastive perspective. In the two monolingual fragments, Kindblad 1840[-41] and Almqvist 1842[-44], on the other hand, a contrastive analysis is central to the lexical description of the headwords. In fact, the fragments demonstrate a very different and theoretically advanced lexical analysis compared to the succeeding monolingual dictionaries of Swedish
