    A SURVEY ON THE DIFFICULTIES IN WRITING ESSAYS OF ENGLISH MAJORED SOPHOMORES AT TAY DO UNIVERSITY, VIETNAM

    This thesis “A study on the difficulties in writing essays of English-majored sophomores at Tay Do University” was conducted to examine the difficulties that second-year students majoring in English often met in writing essays. For this purpose, the participants in this study were 100 English majored sophomores in classes 14A, 14B and 14C at Tay Do University. The interview with 3 extended statements for English majored teachers and a questionnaire with 25 closed statements for students is used as instruments to collect the data. The data from the interview and questionnaire were collected to make clear and prove the problems that the students have had in writing essays. The study figured out some difficulties about background knowledge, vocabulary, grammar structure, idea arrangement and orthography in writing essays faced by English majors sophomores at Tay Do University. Besides, this study also helps students realize their challenges and improve their writing essays.  Article visualizations

    Identification of nutrient composition of some isolated microalgae from mangroves of Xuan Thuy national park

    Microalgae species, such as Amphiprora alata, Chaetoceros muelleri, Nannochloropsis oculata, Navicula tuscula and Chlorella vulgaris from mangrove area of Xuan Thuy National Park are usually used as food sources for fishes, shrimps and bivalves and very environment friendly. The samples of these microalgae were enriched, isolated and purified in F/2 medium with salinity of 20%. The purifed colonies were cultured in media with different salinity in 14 days to find out the most optimal medium for the best growth as well as the stage yielding maximum living mass. These microalgae were then cultured in their optimal media at salinity of 25% until they reached their maximum living mass stage. They were cultivated and analyzed of their fatty acid, protein carbonhydrate components and percentages. The research has identified 24 fatty acids in 5 phytoplankton species. Unsaturated fatty acids components of Chaetoceros muelleri, Nannochloropsis oculata are the highest (76,35% and 71,17%), and fatty acid components of are medium Chlorella vulgaris and Amphiprora alata (59,24% and 52,21%), meanwhile, Navicula tuscula has 29.56% of unsaturated fatty acids.  Amphiprora alata and Chlorella vulgaris have protein content of 8.1g per 100g dry weight and 4.44g per 100g dry weight accordingly. Carbohydrate content of Nannochloropsis oculata and Navicula tuscula are 11.8g per 100g dry weight and 5.47g per 100g dry weight, respectively.

    The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the stressful relationship between parents and children

    The stressful relationship between children and parents is the pain both go through when they find themselves unable to cope as a parent or a child. In order to find out the status, causes, and impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and suggest some solutions to reduce stress between parents and children, we surveyed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on stressful relationships between parents and children at high school age in Da Nang city. The findings of a survey conducted on 550 randomly selected parents and 550 high school students using the Perceived Stress Scale reveal a high rate of tension between parents and their children, particularly up to 51.1% and 38.5%, respectively. In reality, many factors are affecting the stressful relationship between parents and their children at this age, in which psychological fear about health; social distancing policy; closed schools; students staying at home 24 hours a day and learning online; the disruption in children's daily routine; excessive use of electronic devices are major causes of stress in the relationship between parents and their children. From this practice, our research team has proposed such solutions as participating in creative activities and consulting the handbook instructing parents' behaviour rules toward children and vice versa, designing extra-curricular activities, and organizing training courses on life values for both parents and children to increase happiness and reduce stress in the parent-child relationship

    Esomeprazole (Nexium®), the (S)-isomer of Omeprazole, is the first proton-pump inhibitor developed as a single isomer for the treatment of acid-related diseases. It is used for the treatment of peptic ulcers, gastroesophagal reflux disease, and erosive esophagitis. Herein, we report our synthetic study of esomeprazole sodium salt from the starting    2-mercapto-5-methoxybenzimidazole and 2-(chloromethyl)-4-methoxy-3,5-dimethylpyridine hydrochloride reagents. The Esomeprazole sodium salt was obtained from enantioselectivesulfoxidation reaction in moderate yield with high enantioselectivity

    Application of directional derivative method to determine boundary of magnetic sources by total magnetic anomalies

    This paper presents the Directional Derivative method to determine location and boundaries of the magnetic directional structure sources through a new function DG (Directional Gradient - DG). Algorithm and computer program are made a code by Matlab language to attempt to calculate on 3D models in the compare with Horizontal derivative method (HG). A new function DG also applied to determine the boundary of magnetic sources by the total magnetic anomalies of Tuan Giao region. The result shows that with the application of new function DG, the boundaries of magnetic sources are exactly defined although they have a directional structure and small horizontal size. Moreover, because it does not depend on directions of magnetization, so in the computation, the transformation of the magnetic field to the pole can ignore, thus, reduce transient error. Alternatively, with the application of new function DG, the interferences in case the sources distributed close together are overcome.     Corporate Social Responsibility, Board of Directors’ Affect Financial Performance: Evidence in Vietnam

    ABSTRACT Purpose: The study aims to explore corporate social responsibility and corporate governance issues such as the board of directors’ characteristics that affect the financial performance of the manufacturing listed companies on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange in Vietnam.   Theoretical framework: The study is based on the agency theory, stakeholder theory and the fundamental corporate social responsibility to clarify its role and the importance of information disclosure to interested parties when making economic decisions.   Methodology: Using pooled Ordinary least squares causes biased results because of autocorrelation and heteroscedasticity, thus the authors conduct Feasible Generalized Least Squares to increase the reliability of findings.   Findings: The research results show that there are four statistically significant factors that affect financial performance: corporate social responsibility, board gender diversity, ownership concentration, and government ownership.   Research, Practical & Social implications: The obtained results highlight the direct relationship between corporate social responisibility and financial performance, implying that these listed companies can improve their firm value based on the mentioned factors.   Originality/value: by examing the significant relationship between CSR and performance, the author emphasizes the role of managers in disclosing information relevant to their responsibilies to the environment and community. The problem is still a limited concern by corporates in the emerging market as Vietnam

    Knowledge sharing in virtual teams: A research in information technology companies in Vietnam

    Nowadays, virtual teams bring both benefits and drawbacks to companies, especially to information technology companies. Improving virtual team performance is a requisite to speed up the development of information technology companies. This article conducts quantitative research on virtual team members in Vietnam’s information technology companies to investigate the relationships between social capital, risk of opportunistic behaviors, knowledge sharing, and team performance in the situation of virtual teams. The study uses SPSS and AMOS to analyze data collected from 268 valid samples. We find out a reliable 15-variable scale which can be used to measure structural social capital, cognitive social capital, rational social capital, risk of opportunistic behaviors, knowledge sharing and virtual team performance. The results show the positive effects of structural social capital and cognitive social capital on knowledge sharing and virtual team performance. The findings also reveal the negative effects of risk of opportunistic behaviors on knowledge sharing and virtual team performance and a positive correlation between knowledge sharing and virtual team performance. This article can be used as a reference for managers to build solutions for improving virtual team performance in information technology companies in Vietnam

    Eupolauridine alkaloids of Polyalthia nemoralis

    Two eupolauridine alkaloids, eupolauridine (1) and 8-methoxyeupolauridine (2), together with a phenanthrene compound, 2,7-dihydroxy-3,6-dimethoxyphenanthrene (3), were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of Polyalthia nemoralis barks. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis and comparison with related known compounds.
