    Teachers’ Perceptions and Undergraduate Students’ Experience in E-Exam in Higher Institution in Nigeria

    This study was conducted to explore teachers’ perceptions, and students’ experiences in e-Examination in University of Maiduguri. Questionnaires were distributed to 30 teachers and 50 students, and the 80 collated instruments were valid for data analysis, representing a response rate of 100%. The validity of the questionnaire was approved by some experts in the field. Descriptive statistics was used to analyzed the data. The descriptive results indicated that teachers’ and students’ exposure and experiences to ICT was low. The findings further revealed that both the teachers and students agreed that e-Examination is important to them and more efforts should be gear toward improving its integrity. Furthermore, both the teachers and students agreed that e-Examination is not the true reflection of the students’ performance if used as the only way of measurement.From the findings of the study, it is recommended that courses such as computer supported learning, and  e-Examination process, should be introduced periodically for teachers and students’ exposure to the nature of e-Examination through practice and drill to improve teachers’ and students’ level of confidence and perceptions towards the use of e-Examination.     Effect of Group Counselling on Attitude of Senior Secondary School Students’ Towards Schooling in Federal Government College Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria

    The study investigated the effect of group counselling on attitude of senior secondary school students’ towards schooling in Federal Government College, Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. Two objectives were stated and two null hypotheses were formulated and tested at .05 level of significance. Experimental design was used for the study. The target population for the study comprised all the 356 (SS1) students in Federal Government College, Maiduguri. However, 30 students were drawn through random sampling technique as sample for the study. Three stages were used in collecting the data: pre-treatment, treatment and post-treatment phases. Students Attitudes Towards Schooling Scale (SATSS) developed by the researchers was used for data collection. Pilot study was conducted to determine the reliability of the instrument. The data collected was tested using a Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient and reliability coefficient of .76 was obtained which showed that the instrument was reliable for the purpose of this study. t-test of independent samples was used to test hypotheses one and two. The results were considered at P<.05 level. The findings of the study showed that group counselling had significant effect on the attitude of senior secondary school students’ towards schooling in Federal Government College, Maiduguri. It was further found that gender has no significant effect on the attitude of senior secondary school students’ towards schooling in Federal Government College, Maiduguri. Based on the findings of the study, it was concluded that group counselling promoted favourable attitude of students towards schooling. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended that Guidance and Counselling Unit of the Federal Government College Maiduguri should re-orient the students through information service on the benefits of positive attitude towards schooling.     Psychological Challenges of Women in Maiduguri Metropolis Internally Displaced Persons’ Camp: Counselling Implications

    The study determined the psychological challenges of women in Maiduguri Internally Displaced Persons’ camp and its implication for counselling. Three objectives guided the study. With a descriptive survey design, the population of the study comprised 1,100 internally displaced women from Wulari IDP camp located within Maiduguri Metropolis, Borno State.  This study utilized non probability convenient sampling technique to get the sample for the study. Data for the study were collected from100 willing internally displaced women through an instrument titled “Psychological Challenges Identification Questionnaire (PCIQ)” designed by the researchers. Test-retest reliability method utilized for the instrument provided a reliability coefficient of 0.85 using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics of mean, standard deviation, frequency count and percentage. The findings of the study revealed that the leading sources of psychological trauma among IDP women were prolonged stay in camp, loss of loved ones, threats constituted by Boko Haram in the camp and abandonment by the government. It was further revealed that 61% of the respondents are psychologically challenged with living in constant fear, constant nightmares, feeling depressed and insomnia as major psychological challenges experienced by these women. Based on the findings of the study, it was concluded that women were psychologically challenged as a result of insurgency attack. Hence, it was recommended that professional counsellors and psychologists should be deployed to all the IDP camps in the state to assist the women overcome their psychological challenges and live a fulfilled life.     Students’ Perception of Causes and Effect of Teachers’ Psychological Abuse in Senior Secondary Schools in Borno State, Nigeria

    This study was carried out on the students’ perception of the causes and effect of teachers’ psychological abuse in senior secondary schools in Borno State, Nigeria. Different forms of psychological abuse, perceptions, causes and effect of psychological abuse were discussed. The main objective of the study is to determine the perception of students on the cause and effect of psychological abuse. Two hypotheses were raised and analysed, and the first was concluded that, there was no significant difference between male and female students perception on the causes of psychological abuse, the second hypothesis also conclude that there was no significant difference between male and female students’ perception on the effect of psychological abuse. It was revealed that students of senior secondary school in Borno State perceived causes of psychological abuse to be late coming, poor performance and the use of vulgar language by the teachers. It was therefore recommended that awareness programme such as workshops, seminars and conferences should be conducted by the stakeholders, for teachers, parents and students to enlighten them on dimensions of psychological abuses within the school context and home, and the effect of psychological abuse on students. School administrators should also set up body to check the prevalence of psychological abuse and possible control measures. The school counsellor should always educate the teachers and the students on the indicators of psychological abuse in schools.     Assessing secondary school teachers' well-being using PERMA Model in Maiduguri, Borno State

    The study was conducted to determine teachers' well-being in secondary schools. The researchers approached teachers' well-being with emphasis on Seligman's multidimensional PERMA model. The sample comprised 200 teachers from six secondary schools within Maiduguri Metropolis. Teachers' Well-Being Questionnaire designed by the researchers was used for data collection. Data were summarized and analyzed by descriptive (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Pearson Product Moment Correlation and independent t-test). Results showed that teachers had good well-being and most of the PERMA domains were significantly related except Meaning and Accomplishment domains which were not significantly related to Positive Emotion domain. Also, well-being had no significant difference between male and female secondary school teachers. In order to maintain and advance good teachers' well-being, it was recommended that management of schools should conduct periodic well-being programmes that will involve psychosocial intervention courses that could promote personal flourishing (positive functioning) of teachers.
