    Problem solving is one of the goals in learning mathematics. In solving problems students must use steps to solve them, including in solving story problems. The ability needed to solve a story problem is not only specific skills or algorithms, but also the ability to prepare a plan or strategy that will be used in solving problems. The purpose of this study is to describe the use of Polya problem solving steps by students in solving story problems on mixed integer operation material. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this study were four students chosen randomly or randomly. While this research instrument is a written test about a story that has been validated by a mathematics teacher and unstructured interviews. Based on the analysis obtained shows that not all students use Polya's problem solving steps in solving story problems, this is indicated by the way students work on the results of written tests and interviews

    This research aims to improve student learning outcomes using Question Student Have strategy with animation media on light reflection in class VIII of MTS Al-Islamiya Rahaudatul Peniti Luar. There are 27 students involved in the study of this classroom action research. Based on data analysis concluded that the used of Question Student Have strategies with animation media can improve student learning outcomes in light reflection. Before the research was conducted, the average of student learning outcomes reached KKM (Criteria Complete Minimal) of 65.5. The number of students who reached KKM were 10 people with a percentage of 36.7%. After being given the action I, the average result of learning was 66.67. The number of students who reached KKM were 17 people with a percentage of 63%. The percentage of students who reached KKM increased by 26.3%. After being given a second action, the average learning outcomes was 73.3. The number of students who reached KKM for 21 people with a percentage of 77.8%. The percentage of students who reached KKM increased by 14.8%

    Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Novick Berbantuan Conceptual Change Text Untuk Meremediasi Miskonsepsi Pada Meteri Energi

    This research was aimed to known effectiveness the application of Novick learning model assisted by conceptual change text to remediate students\u27 misconceptions on energy in SMA Negeri 1 Sambas. Pre-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest design used in this research. Sample of this research was students from X MIA 1 class (n = 39) who choosen by intact group random sampling technique. Diagnostic test which consisted of 18 multiple choice question with open reasoning. Based on the results of data analysis found the findings, as follows: (1) the average decrease of misconceptions equal to 79,2%, (2) There was a significant conceptual change ( 166,9; 1; 0,05) after being given remedial learning, (3) There is a difference in the percentage of student misconception on energy before and after given remediation activity based on two-sample test of proportions (Zscore[14,123] > Ztable[1,96]); and (4) The level effectiveness of remediation is high (DQM = 79,2%). Based on these results, it is expected that Novick learning model assisted conceptual change text can be used as an alternative remediation activities to overcome misconception

    Kemampuan Representasi Matematis Siswa melalui Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah di Sekolah Menengah Atas

    The purposes of this study are: to assess the students' mathematical representation in solving problems after being given a problem-based learning model; to assess the students' mathematical representation associated with the conceptual understanding; and to assess the students' mathematical representation associated with the procedural understanding. This is a quantitative research. The approach employed in this study is the equivalent time samples design. The population of this study is all twelve grade students of SMA Santu Petrus Pontianak in the academic year 2014/2015. The randomly selected samples are class XII-IA3 students. The data obtained from both pretest and post-test were statistically and descriptively analyzed. The results are: the students' mathematical representation has increased significantly after receiving the problem-based learning model, the students are able to organize their knowledge to perform translations one representation form to the other representation form. The association between the mathematical representation and the conceptual understanding and the procedural understanding after the problem-based learning is considered fair

    Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis Siswa dalam Materi Sudut dan Garis di SMP Yakhalusti Pontianak

    This research aimed to determine students mathematical communication ability on angles and lines in grade VIII students in Yakhalusti Junior High School Pontianak. The research was conducted by using qualitative descriptive and the form of research was a case study. The samples of the research were 33 students. Result of the data analysis showed that students with high level of drawing ability was 58%, medium level was 33% and low level was 9%. Students with high level of mathematical expression ability was 15%, medium level was 64% and low level was 21%. Students with high level of written texts ability was 18%, medium level was 27% and low level was 55%. In general it can be concluded that students with high level of mathematical communication ability was 27%, medium level was 67%, low level was 6%, and there was a hierarchy among the three mathematical communication skills
