An extension of tribimaximal lepton mixing
Harrison, Perkins and Scott have proposed simple charged lepton and neutrino
mass matrices that lead to the tribimaximal mixing . We consider
in this work an extension of the mass matrices so that the leptonic mixing
matrix becomes , where
is a unitary matrix needed to diagonalize the charged lepton mass matrix and
measures the deviation of the neutrino mixing matrix from the bimaximal
form. Hence, corrections to arise from both charged lepton and
neutrino sectors. Following our previous work to assume a Qin-Ma-like
parametrization for the charged lepton mixing matrix in
which the {\it CP}-odd phase is approximately maximal, we study the
phenomenological implications in two different scenarios: and . We find that the latter is more
preferable, though both scenarios are consistent with the data within
ranges. The predicted reactor neutrino mixing angle in both
scenarios is consistent with the recent T2K and MINOS data. The leptonic {\it
CP} violation characterized by the Jarlskog invariant is generally
of order .Comment: 20 pages and 8 figures, Accepted in Phys.Review
Possibly New Charmed Baryon States from Decay
We examine the invariant mass spectrum of in decay measured by BABAR and find that through the 2-step processes of
, where denotes a
charmed baryon state, some of the peaks can be identified with the established
, and . Moreover, in
order to account for the measured spectrum, it is necessary to introduce a new
charmed baryon resonance with MeV.Comment: 8 pages, 1 figure, title changed and discussions updated, version

The Abel-Zeilberger Algorithm
We use both Abel's lemma on summation by parts and Zeilberger's algorithm to
find recurrence relations for definite summations. The role of Abel's lemma can
be extended to the case of linear difference operators with polynomial
coefficients. This approach can be used to verify and discover identities
involving harmonic numbers and derangement numbers. As examples, we use the
Abel-Zeilberger algorithm to prove the Paule-Schneider identities, the
Apery-Schmidt-Strehl identity, Calkin's identity and some identities involving
Fibonacci numbers.Comment: 18 page
The Topological Relation Between Bulk Gap Nodes and Surface Bound States : Application to Iron-based Superconductors
In the past few years materials with protected gapless surface (edge) states
have risen to the central stage of condensed matter physics. Almost all
discussions centered around topological insulators and superconductors, which
possess full quasiparticle gaps in the bulk. In this paper we argue systems
with topological stable bulk nodes offer another class of materials with robust
gapless surface states. Moreover the location of the bulk nodes determines the
Miller index of the surfaces that show (or not show) such states. Measuring the
spectroscopic signature of these zero modes allows a phase-sensitive
determination of the nodal structures of unconventional superconductors when
other phase-sensitive techniques are not applicable. We apply this idea to
gapless iron based superconductors and show how to distinguish accidental from
symmetry dictated nodes. We shall argue the same idea leads to a method for
detecting a class of the elusive spin liquids.Comment: updated references, 6 pages, 4 figures, RevTex
