A Mathematica Interface for FormCalc-generated Code
This note describes a Mathematica interface for Fortran code generated by
FormCalc. The interfacing code is set up automatically so that only minuscule
changes in the driver files are required. The interface makes a function to
compute the cross-section or decay rate available in Mathematica. This function
depends on the model parameters chosen for interfacing in the Fortran code.Comment: 6 page
New Features in FormCalc 4
FormCalc is a Mathematica package for the automatic computation of tree-level
and one-loop Feynman amplitudes. It accepts diagrams generated by FeynArts,
simplifies them, and generates a complete Fortran code for their numerical
evaluation. Version 4 includes new features which enhance performance,
convenience of use, and modularity/code reusability.Comment: 5 pages, Talk given at the 7th DESY Workshop On Elementary Particle

News from FormCalc and LoopTools
The FormCalc package automates the computation of FeynArts amplitudes up to
one loop including the generation of a Fortran code for the numerical
evaluation of the squared matrix element. Major new or enhanced features in
Version 5 are: iterative build-up of essentially arbitrary phase-spaces
including cuts, convolution with density functions, and uniform treatment of
kinematical variables. The LoopTools library supplies the one-loop integrals
necessary for evaluating the squared matrix element. Its most significant
extensions in Version 2.2 are the five-point family of integrals, and complex
and alternate versions.Comment: 5 pages, to appear in the proceedings of the 7th International

From the Book Page to the Big Screen: An Exploration of Literature-to-Film Adaptions and Their Use in the Classroom
Many classic titles of children’s literature have been adapted into feature film presentations. Although often regarded as a mere form of entertainment, movies can and should be incorporated into the elementary classroom as supplementary material to be paired with their corresponding works of literature. The four examples provided include Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs by Judi Barrett, A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle, The Giver by Lois Lowry, and Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie. Each of these four works originated as a book that was later recreated into a film format with varying degrees of accuracy to the original story. Through a close examination of the author, theme, classroom application, and film connection, a greater appreciation is gained for the integration of film in the language arts classroom
An Examination of the Occurrence of Divorce and Social and Demographic Factors within Chicago
This research looks at the occurrence of divorce among Cook County-Chicago census tracts from data gathered from the 2006-2010 American Community Survey (ACS) of the U.S. Census Bureau. Previous research has looked at various factors believed to affect the divorce rate of a country, in particular the economic development, average educational attainment, and participation of women in the labor force. These past studies have often found a significant and positive correlation between divorce and a country\u27s economic development, educational attainment, and participation of women in the labor force. However, these studies have mostly focused on cross-national boundaries, thus allowing for greater disregard for cultural norms and differences across countries. This study, then, examines divorce as it is found within a diverse city (known historically for its segregation) of a single nation. Occurrence of divorce is mapped along with various demographic information such as race, income level, educational attainment, and nativity, and then spatially analyzed
Triangular patches within a geometric continuous patch complex
Triangular patches are constructed to fill in, with arbitrary order of continuity, a triangular hole within a complex of patches joining with geometric continuity. Explicit formulas are given for the special case that the hole is surrounded by rectangular patches joining with parametric continuity. Modifications and handles to control the shape of the patches are described
Core inflation in the Euro area : evidence from the structural VAR approach
Against the difficult background of analysing aggregated data in this paper core inflation in the euro area is estimated by means of the structural vector autoregressive approach. We demonstrate that the HICP sometimes seems to be a misleading indicator for monetary policy in the euro area. We furthermore compare our core inflation measure to the wide-spread "ex food and energy" measure, often referred to by the ECB. In addition we provide evidence that our measure is a coincident indicator of HICP inflation. Assessing the robustness of our core inflation measure we carefully conclude that it seems to be quite reliable.
