The intrinsic quadrupole moment Q0 of superdeformed rotational bands in A∼150 nuclei depends on the associated single-particle configuration. We have derived an empirical formula based on the additivity of effective quadrupole moments of single-particle orbitals that describes existing measurements from 142Sm to 152Dy. To further test the formula, the predicted Q0 moments for two superdeformed bands in 146Gd of 14.05eb were confronted with a new measurement yielding 13.9±0.4eb and 13.9 ± 0.3eb, respectively. This excellent agreement provides empirical evidence of extreme single-particle behavior in highly deformed, collective systems

Optimal Storage Assignment for an Automated Warehouse System with Mixed Loading

Part 2: Knowledge Discovery and SharingInternational audienceIn this study, an automated warehouse system with mixed loading is considered. The majority of previous studies considered assumptions that were similar to those for a single-shuttle system with single loading. Due to the increased number of items in recent years, storage assignment strategies with single loading are not feasible because of the shortage of storage racks. This study adopts a storage policy with mixed loading for an automated warehouse system, which enables the use of one warehouse. Additional movement and transshipment operations, which involve mixed loading, are considered in this paper

Leadership Redundancy in a Multiteam System

Inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) operations of the subsea infrastructure off Norway’s coast are performed from specialized vessels by multiteam systems. A case study shows how leadership is organized and practiced to coordinate interdependencies, and to cope with the risks inherent in this type of complex and tightly coupled operation. Leadership redundancy is proposed as a mechanism that can contribute to the smooth and safe functioning of a multiteam system operating in a volatile environment
