Students' Algebraic Thinking in Using the Geogebra Application
Algebra is knowledge in education. The ability to think should be known so that it can be maximized in the learning process, one of which is the ability to think in algebra. In the process of working on various algebra problems, students carry out generational activities, transformation activities, and global meta-level activities. Learning algebra will be easy if combined with technology. One of the technologies that can support algebra learning is Geogebra. The research aims to determine how students' algebraic thinking abilities use the Geogebra application. The method in this research is qualitative, with a case study type. The research subjects were students taking calculus courses in the Informatics Engineering study program at a private campus in Jakarta. The research results show that the algebraic thinking ability levels consist of high, medium, and low. High algebraic thinking abilities have high generational, transformational, and global meta-level abilities, while moderate algebraic abilities have moderate generational abilities; transformational abilities tend to be medium to high, and global meta-level abilities tend to be medium to low. Low levels of algebraic thinking ability tend to have moderate to low generational abilities, low transformational abilities, and low global meta-level abilities
Analisis Peningkatan Literasi Statistik Mahasiswa pada Mata Kuliah Statistika Pendidikan berbasis The Statistical Process
One of the competencies that students must have in the 21st century is statistical literacy skills. To fulfill this, the researcher conducted research on 33 students of education statistics for 16 meetings to analyze the increase in statistical literacy of elementary school teacher candidates. Mixed-Methods with Competitor Embeded design will be used in this study, which is a qualitative research complementing quantitative research. Research data were obtained from test instruments (pre-test and post-test) which were developed based on statistical processes and non-test instruments (results from interviews). For more in-depth analysis, the data is seen based on the Initial Statistics ability, namely: high, medium, and low. The results of this study indicate that the statistical literacy of prospective elementary school teacher students increases both in the high group, medium group, and low group after participating in statistical learning for 16 meetings, serving students outside class hours is one of the factors in increasing student learning motivation which has a direct impact on student learning progress, and teaching methods. This research still has shortcomings that can be used as a reference for further research, one of which is the absence of a consistent method used in teaching one semester. For this reason, further research needs to use learning methods in increasing student statistical literacy.
The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in students' critical thinking skills after receiving learning with the Heuristic Strategy compared to the critical thinking abilities of students who received mathematics learning with conventional learning, and how students' attitudes toward learning mathematics with Polya's heuristic strategy were. This study used an experimental method on the entire population of class VII students of SMPN 1 Muara Bungo, while two classes were randomly selected as samples. The instrument used in this research is a test of students' mathematical critical thinking skills and attitude scale. The test used is a description type test. The results of this study can be concluded that: (1) the mathematical critical thinking ability of students who receive mathematics learning with Polya's Heuristic Strategy is better than students who receive conventional learning models; and (2) students have a positive attitude towards learning mathematics by using Polya's Heuristic Strategy. From these conclusions, the authors suggest that Polya's Heuristic Strategy can be used as an alternative for teachers to carry out the teaching and learning process in the classroom and similar research be conducted to reveal understanding abilities in other mathematics subject matter, which were not examined in this study
Enhancing Practicality of Web-Based Mobile Learning in Operating System Course: A Developmental Study
Web-based Mobile Learning can enhance the learning experience in various educational contexts. However, in operating system courses, practical challenges arise when implementing a web-based mobile learning platform, which impacts the effectiveness and accessibility of learning materials for students. To overcome these challenges, this research and development (R&D) aims to improve the practicality of web-based mobile learning in operating system courses. The research adopts a systematic 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) model to identify and explore strategies to optimize the practicality of the platform. Data collected from lecturers and students showed a high average value of practicality, 88.33% and 88.35%, respectively. This research contributes to improving the practical aspects of web-based mobile learning, thereby enhancing students’ learning experience and outcomes in the context of operating system courses
