Towards the quantization of the non-relativistic D2-brane in the Pure Spinor Formalism
An attempt is made to apply the pure spinor formalism to the non-relativistic
IIA D2-brane. The fermionic constraints corresponding to the rescaled fermionic
coordinates are given. Two commuting spinor fields are introduced, each one
corresponding to a fermionic constraint. A BRST charge is constructed via the
ansatz proposed by N. Berkovits. The nilpotency of the BRST charge leads to a
set of constraints for the two spinor fields including pure spinor constraints.
A novel non-trivial solution is given for one of the spinor fields which can be
written as a sum of two pure spinors.Comment: 23 pages in latex, no figures; discussion added, some typos

Relativistic gravitational collapse in comoving coordinates: The post-quasistatic approximation
A general iterative method proposed some years ago for the description of
relativistic collapse, is presented here in comoving coordinates. For doing
that we redefine the basic concepts required for the implementation of the
method for comoving coordinates. In particular the definition of the
post-quasistatic approximation in comoving coordinates is given. We write the
field equations, the boundary conditions and a set of ordinary differential
equations (the surface equations) which play a fundamental role in the
algorithm. As an illustration of the method, we show how to build up a model
inspired in the well known Schwarzschild interior solution. Both, the adiabatic
and non adiabatic, cases are considered.Comment: 14 pages, 11 figures; updated version to appear in Int. J. Modern

Increasing Opportunities for Older Youth in After-School Programs
Few after-school programs have developed strategies for attracting large numbers of teens, especially older and harder-to-serve youth. In response to this need, Madison Square Boys & Girls Club in New York City and Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston participated in a three-year initiative to enhance services to underserved teens. This report documents the successes and challenges the Clubs experienced as the initiative unfolded. They recruited large numbers of teens, involved them in a variety of activities, and provided them with emotional support, leadership opportunities, and programming in two critical areas: academics and job training
On the Critical Behaviour of Heat Conducting Sphere out of Hydrostatic Equilibrium
We comment further on the behaviour of a heat conducting fluid when a
characteristic parameter of the system approaches a critical value.Comment: 4 pages, emTex (LaTex 2.09), submitted to Classical and Quantum

Breakdown of the linear approximation in the perturbative analysis of heat conduction in relativistic systems
We analyze the effects of thermal conduction in a relativistic fluid just
after its departure from spherical symmetry, on a time scale of the order of
relaxation time. Using first order perturbation theory, it is shown that, as in
spherical systems, at a critical point the effective inertial mass density of a
fluid element vanishes and becomes negative beyond that point. The impact of
this effect on the reliability of causality conditions is discussed.Comment: 11 pages (Latex2.09) To appear in Physics Letters
On the dual interpretation of zero-curvature Friedmann-Robertson-Walker models
Two possible interpretations of FRW cosmologies (perfect fluid or dissipative
fluid)are considered as consecutive phases of the system. Necessary conditions
are found, for the transition from perfect fluid to dissipative regime to
occur, bringing out the conspicuous role played by a particular state of the
system (the ''critical point '').Comment: 13 pages Latex, to appear in Class.Quantum Gra
