Malignant melanoma of the conjunctiva: a case report with examination of KIT and PDGFRA
Although many clinicopathological studies of malignant melanoma of the conjunctiva have been reported, there have been no studies of the expression and gene mutations of KIT and PDGFRA in melanoma of the conjunctiva. A 69-year-old Japanese woman consulted our hospital because of black mass (0.7 × 0.7 × 0.6 cm) in the conjunctiva. A biopsy was taken. The biopsy showed malignant epithelioid cells with melanin deposition. Immunohistochemically, the tumor was positive for S100 protein, HMB45, p53, Ki-67 (labeling=30%), KIT and PDGFRA. The tumor was negative for pancytokeratins (AE1/3 and CAM5.2). A genetic analysis using PCR-direct sequencing revealed no mutations of KIT gene (exons 9, 11, 13, and 17) and PDGFRA gene (exons 12 and 18). The pathological diagnosis was conjunctival melanoma. Despite chemotherapy, the patient developed multiple metastases of melanoma, and died of melanoma 7 years after the biopsy. In conclusion, the author reported a case of melanoma of conjunctive expressing KIT and PDGFRA proteins without gene mutations of KIT and PDGFRA
A search for cyclotron resonance features with INTEGRAL
We present an INTEGRAL observation of the Cen-Crux region in order to search
the electron cyclotron resonance scattering features from the X-ray binary
pulsars. During the AO1 200ks observation, we clearly detected 4 bright X-ray
binaries, 1 Seyfert Galaxy, and 4 new sources in the field of view. Especially
from GX301-2, the cyclotron resonance feature is detected at about 37 keV, and
width of 3--4 keV. In addition, the depth of the resonance feature strongly
depends on the X-ray luminosity. This is the first detection of luminosity
dependence of the resonance depth. The cyclotron resonance feature is
marginally detected from 1E1145.1-6141. Cen X-3 was very dim during the
observation and poor statistics disable us to detect the resonance
features.These are first INTEGRAL results of searching for the cyclotron

Energy Spectra and Normalized Power Spectral Densities of X-Ray Nova GS 2000+25
The X-ray energy spectra and Normalized Power Spectral Densities (NPSDs) of
an X-ray nova, GS 2000+25, were investigated. The X-ray energy spectra of the
source consist of two components: a hard component, which can be represented by
a power-law, and an ultra-soft component, represented by radiation from an
optically-thick accretion disk (the disk component). In a model in which the
power-law component is the Compton-scattered radiation, it is found that the
temperature of the incident blackbody radiation to the Compton cloud decrease
from 0.8 keV to 0.2 keV according to the decay of the intensity, which
coincides with that of the inner accretion disk. When the source changed from
the high-state to the low-state, both the photon index of the power-law
component (or Compton y-parameter) and the NPSD of the hard component
dramatically changed as did GS 1124-683. That is, the photon index changed from
2.2--2.6 to 1.7--1.8 and the absolute values of the NPSDs at 0.3 Hz of the hard
component in the low-state became about 10-times larger than those of the hard
component in the high-state. These X-ray properties were similar to those of

Performance Prediction Method Considering Shock Wave in Nozzle for High-Voltage Circuit Breaker
Interrupting-performance indexes that reflect the physical properties of gas flow are proposed for a breaker terminal fault of a high-voltage circuit breaker. A method of evaluating the shock wave and flow velocity was developed that uses a theoretical equation of supersonic flow which takes into account the nozzle’s shape and stagnation pressure. The predicted flow velocities and positions at which the shock wave forms have strong correlations with the test results
Infrared Imaging of the Gravitational Lens PG 1115+080 with the Subaru Telescope
We present high spatial resolution images of the gravitational-lens system PG
1115+080 taken with the near-infrared camera (CISCO) on the Subaru telescope.
The FWHM of the combined image is in the -band, yielding spatial
resolution of after a deconvolution procedure. This is a first
detection of an extended emission adjacent to the A1/A2 components, indicating
the presence of a fairly bright emission region with a characteristic angular
radius of 5 mas (40 pc). The near-infrared image of the Einstein ring
was extracted in both the and bands. The color is found to be
significantly redder than that of a synthetic model galaxy with an age of 3
