Pytrec_eval: An Extremely Fast Python Interface to trec_eval
We introduce pytrec_eval, a Python interface to the tree_eval information
retrieval evaluation toolkit. pytrec_eval exposes the reference implementations
of trec_eval within Python as a native extension. We show that pytrec_eval is
around one order of magnitude faster than invoking trec_eval as a sub process
from within Python. Compared to a native Python implementation of NDCG,
pytrec_eval is twice as fast for practically-sized rankings. Finally, we
demonstrate its effectiveness in an application where pytrec_eval is combined
with Pyndri and the OpenAI Gym where query expansion is learned using
Q-learning.Comment: SIGIR '18. The 41st International ACM SIGIR Conference on Research &

DCDIDP: A distributed, collaborative, and data-driven intrusion detection and prevention framework for cloud computing environments
With the growing popularity of cloud computing, the exploitation of possible vulnerabilities grows at the same pace; the distributed nature of the cloud makes it an attractive target for potential intruders. Despite security issues delaying its adoption, cloud computing has already become an unstoppable force; thus, security mechanisms to ensure its secure adoption are an immediate need. Here, we focus on intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPSs) to defend against the intruders. In this paper, we propose a Distributed, Collaborative, and Data-driven Intrusion Detection and Prevention system (DCDIDP). Its goal is to make use of the resources in the cloud and provide a holistic IDPS for all cloud service providers which collaborate with other peers in a distributed manner at different architectural levels to respond to attacks. We present the DCDIDP framework, whose infrastructure level is composed of three logical layers: network, host, and global as well as platform and software levels. Then, we review its components and discuss some existing approaches to be used for the modules in our proposed framework. Furthermore, we discuss developing a comprehensive trust management framework to support the establishment and evolution of trust among different cloud service providers. © 2011 ICST
Quasiquarks in two stream system
We study the collective quark excitations in an extremely anisotropic system
of two interpenetrating streams of the quark-gluon plasma. In contrast to the
gluon modes, all quark ones appear to be stable in such a system. Even more,
the quark modes in the two-stream system are very similar to those in the
isotropic plasma.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures, minor corrections, to appear in Phys. Rev.
Complete phase diagram for the integrable chain with alternating spins in the sectors with competing interactions
We investigate the anisotropic integrable spin chain consisting of spins
and by means of thermodynamic Bethe ansatz for the anisotropy
, where the analysis of the Takahashi conditions leads to a more
complicated string picture. We give the phase diagram with respect to the two
real coupling constants and , which contains a new region
where the ground state is formed by strings with infinite Fermi zones. In this
region the velocities of sound for the two physical excitations have been
calculated from the dressed energies. This leads to an additional line of
conformal invariance not known before.Comment: 13 pages, LaTeX, uses ioplppt.sty and epsfig.sty, figure 3 correcte
