Continuously Crossing u=z in the H3+ Boundary CFT
For AdS boundary conditions, we give a solution of the H3+ two point function
involving degenerate field with SL(2)-label b^{-2}/2, which is defined on the
full (u,z) unit square. It consists of two patches, one for z<u and one for
u<z. Along the u=z "singularity", the solutions from both patches are shown to
have finite limits and are merged continuously as suggested by the work of
Hosomichi and Ribault. From this two point function, we can derive
b^{-2}/2-shift equations for AdS_2 D-branes. We show that discrete as well as
continuous AdS_2 branes are consistent with our novel shift equations without

Logarithmic intertwining operators and vertex operators
This is the first in a series of papers where we study logarithmic
intertwining operators for various vertex subalgebras of Heisenberg vertex
operator algebras. In this paper we examine logarithmic intertwining operators
associated with rank one Heisenberg vertex operator algebra , of
central charge . We classify these operators in terms of {\em depth}
and provide explicit constructions in all cases. Furthermore, for we
focus on the vertex operator subalgebra L(1,0) of and obtain
logarithmic intertwining operators among indecomposable Virasoro algebra
modules. In particular, we construct explicitly a family of {\em hidden}
logarithmic intertwining operators, i.e., those that operate among two ordinary
and one genuine logarithmic L(1,0)-module.Comment: 32 pages. To appear in CM
Impurity intrusion in radio-frequency micro-plasma jets operated in ambient air
Space and time resolved concentrations of helium metastable atoms in an
atmospheric pressure radio-frequency micro-plasma jet were measured using
tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy. Spatial profiles as well as
lifetime measurements show significant influences of air entering the discharge
from the front nozzle and of impurities originating from the gas supply system.
Quenching of metastables was used to deduce quantitative concentrations of
intruding impurities. The impurity profile along the jet axis was determined
from optical emission spectroscopy as well as their dependance on the feed gas

Correlation functions of disorder operators in massive ghost theories
The two-dimensional ghost systems with negative integral central charge
received much attention in the last years for their role in a number of
applications and in connection with logarithmic conformal field theory. We
consider the free massive bosonic and fermionic ghost systems and concentrate
on the non-trivial sectors containing the disorder operators. A unified
analysis of the correlation functions of such operators can be performed for
ghosts and ordinary complex bosons and fermions. It turns out that these
correlators depend only on the statistics although the scaling dimensions of
the disorder operators change when going from the ordinary to the ghost case.
As known from the study of the ordinary case, the bosonic and fermionic
correlation functions are the inverse of each other and are exactly expressible
through the solution of a non-linear differential equation.Comment: 8 pages, late
From boundary to bulk in logarithmic CFT
The analogue of the charge-conjugation modular invariant for rational
logarithmic conformal field theories is constructed. This is done by
reconstructing the bulk spectrum from a simple boundary condition (the analogue
of the Cardy `identity brane'). We apply the general method to the c_1,p
triplet models and reproduce the previously known bulk theory for p=2 at c=-2.
For general p we verify that the resulting partition functions are modular
invariant. We also construct the complete set of 2p boundary states, and
confirm that the identity brane from which we started indeed exists. As a
by-product we obtain a logarithmic version of the Verlinde formula for the

SLE local martingales in logarithmic representations
A space of local martingales of SLE type growth processes forms a
representation of Virasoro algebra, but apart from a few simplest cases not
much is known about this representation. The purpose of this article is to
exhibit examples of representations where L_0 is not diagonalizable - a
phenomenon characteristic of logarithmic conformal field theory. Furthermore,
we observe that the local martingales bear a close relation with the fusion
product of the boundary changing fields.
Our examples reproduce first of all many familiar logarithmic representations
at certain rational values of the central charge. In particular we discuss the
case of SLE(kappa=6) describing the exploration path in critical percolation,
and its relation with the question of operator content of the appropriate
conformal field theory of zero central charge. In this case one encounters
logarithms in a probabilistically transparent way, through conditioning on a
crossing event. But we also observe that some quite natural SLE variants
exhibit logarithmic behavior at all values of kappa, thus at all central

Argon metastable dynamics in a filamentary jet micro-discharge at atmospheric pressure
Space and time resolved concentrations of Ar () metastable atoms at
the exit of an atmospheric pressure radio-frequency micro-plasma jet were
measured using tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy. The discharge
features a coaxial geometry with a hollow capillary as an inner electrode and a
ceramic tube with metal ring as outer electrode. Absorption profiles of
metastable atoms as well as optical emission measurements reveal the dynamics
and the filamentary structure of the discharge. The average spatial
distribution of Ar metastables is characterized with and without a target in
front of the jet, showing that the target potential and therewith the electric
field distribution substantially changes the filaments' expansion. Together
with the detailed analysis of the ignition phase and the discharge's behavior
under pulsed operation, the results give an insight into the excitation and
de-excitation mechanisms
Higher string functions, higher-level Appell functions, and the logarithmic ^sl(2)_k/u(1) CFT model
We generalize the string functions C_{n,r}(tau) associated with the coset
^sl(2)_k/u(1) to higher string functions A_{n,r}(tau) and B_{n,r}(tau)
associated with the coset W(k)/u(1) of the W-algebra of the logarithmically
extended ^sl(2)_k conformal field model with positive integer k. The higher
string functions occur in decomposing W(k) characters with respect to level-k
theta and Appell functions and their derivatives (the characters are neither
quasiperiodic nor holomorphic, and therefore cannot decompose with respect to
only theta-functions). The decomposition coefficients, to be considered
``logarithmic parafermionic characters,'' are given by A_{n,r}(tau),
B_{n,r}(tau), C_{n,r}(tau), and by the triplet \mathscr{W}(p)-algebra
characters of the (p=k+2,1) logarithmic model. We study the properties of
A_{n,r} and B_{n,r}, which nontrivially generalize those of the classic string
functions C_{n,r}, and evaluate the modular group representation generated from
A_{n,r}(tau) and B_{n,r}(tau); its structure inherits some features of modular
transformations of the higher-level Appell functions and the associated

Wind on the boundary for the Abelian sandpile model
We continue our investigation of the two-dimensional Abelian sandpile model
in terms of a logarithmic conformal field theory with central charge c=-2, by
introducing two new boundary conditions. These have two unusual features: they
carry an intrinsic orientation, and, more strangely, they cannot be imposed
uniformly on a whole boundary (like the edge of a cylinder). They lead to seven
new boundary condition changing fields, some of them being in highest weight
representations (weights -1/8, 0 and 3/8), some others belonging to
indecomposable representations with rank 2 Jordan cells (lowest weights 0 and
1). Their fusion algebra appears to be in full agreement with the fusion rules
conjectured by Gaberdiel and Kausch.Comment: 26 pages, 4 figure
