In this paper, we have proposed the concept of weighted generalized residual entropy of order α and type β, and have shown that the proposed measure characterizes the distribution function uniquely

Summary data of potency and parameter information from semi-mechanistic PKPD modeling of prolactin release following administration of the dopamine D2 receptor antagonists risperidone, paliperidone and remoxipride in rats

We provide the reader with relevant data related to our recently published paper, comparing two mathematical models to describe prolactin turnover in rats following one or two doses of the dopamine D2 receptor antagonists risperidone, paliperidone and remoxipride, “A comparison of two semi-mechanistic models for prolactin release and prediction of receptor occupancy following administration of dopamine D2 receptor antagonists in rats” (Taneja et al., 2016) [1]. All information is tabulated. Summary level data on the in vitro potencies and the physicochemical properties is presented in Table 1. Model parameters required to explore the precursor pool model are presented in Table 2. In Table 3, estimated parameter comparisons for both models are presented, when separate potencies are estimated for risperidone and paliperidone, as compared to a common potency for both drugs. In Table 4, parameter estimates are compared when the drug effect is parameterized in terms of drug concentration or receptor occupancy

The Role Of Host-Plant Resistance In Pest Management In Sorghum In India

    Get PDF
The sorghum agroecosystem in India has been destabilized by the introduction of new varieties and hybrids that are not resistant to major pests such as Atherigona soccata, Chilo partellus, Contarinia sorghicola and Calocoris angustatus. An integrated pest management system needs to be developed, based on traditional pest management practices, of which pest resistance, cultural control and biological control were important components. For a better understanding of such a control approach, the biology of the major pests is summarized and a brief account of levels and mechanisms of pest resistance known so far in sorghum is provided. Based on this information, the rainfall pattern, plant duration to maturity, time of planting, natural enemies and insecticides, a sorghum-based integrated pest management system is proposed for the monsoon and post-monsoon season, in which host-plant resistance may be used alone or in combination with other control measures

Raising awareness of the accessibility challenges in mathematics MOOCs

    Get PDF
MOOCs provide learning environments that make it easier for learners to study from anywhere, at their own pace and with open access to content. This has revolutionised the field of eLearning, but accessibility continues to be a problem, even more so if we include the complexity of the STEM disciplines which have their own specific characteristics. This work presents an analysis of the accessibility of several MOOC platforms which provide courses in mathematics. We attempt to visualise the main web accessibility problems and challenges that disabled learners could face in taking these types of courses, both in general and specifically in the context of the subject of mathematics

Techniques to Screen Sorghums for Resistance to Insect Pests

    Get PDF
Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] is one of the most important cereal crops in the semi-arid tropics. Grain yields on peasant farms are generally low, insect pests being one of the major factors limiting production. There are over 150 species which damage sorghum crops, of which sorghum shoot fly (Atherigona soccata), spotted stem borer (Chilopartellus), sorghum midge (Contarinia sorghicola), and head bugs (Calocoris angustatus and Eurtystylus immaculatus) are the major pests worldwide. This bulletin describes techniques to screen for resistance under choice (field) and no-choice(cage) conditions, methods of evaluating insect damage, and the sources of resistance to the major pests
