ENGLISHA single dose of repellent (1.5 gram/600 cm2) was tested against mosquitoes of Aedes aegypti, Culex quinquefasciatus and Anopheles aconitus in the laboratory. After 6 hours, the protective rates of the repellent less than 90% (efficacy criterion) against the three mosquitoes species above. This results indicated that the repellent on the dosage of 1,5 grams/600 cm2 ineffective so that repetition test should be considered by using different formula as well as doses and applications.INDONESIASuatu repelen dosis tunggal (1,5 gram/600 cm2) telah diuji daya proteksinya terhadap nyamuk Ae. aegypti, Cx. quinquefasciatus dan An. aconitus di laboratorium.

A study to evaluate the effectiveness of school health education for mosquito borne diseases vector control program was conducted in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The method of study include education program for the teachers and 4th through 6th grade students from 2 primary schools and another school in the area was chosen as control. The evaluation was made through responses obtained from the questionaires given before and after the education program for malaria and filariasis regarding their sign, symptoms, the vector and prevention. The results show that there are 3,82% and 4,10% increase in knowledge about malaria and filaria respectively after the education program. This means the education material was well accepted. Although there was an overall increase in knowledge about malaria, no similar response was noted for filariasis. Thus the education material for filariasis should be improved. The result of the study suggest that a continous education program for malaria and filariasis should be incorporated into the regular School Health Education curicullum in the endemic areas

During the operational - scale field trials for malaria vector control in Jepara regency, an intensive mosquito collection was carried out in 8 villages of 5 subdistrict, 1983-1986. The mosquito collections consisted of landing on man indoor and outdoor, night resting in cattle shelters, daytime resting indoor and outdoor. Ten Anopheles spp. i.e. Anopheles aconitus, An. annularis, An. barbirostris, An. indefinitus, An. subpictus, An. tesselatus, An. minimus and An. vagus were caught. Among these mosquito, An. aconitus as the main malaria vector was caught predominantly landing on man and resting outdoor, followed by An. vagus. Other species were caught in small numbers

Umur residu (residual effect) efektif (kematian An. aconitus 50%) selama 4 minggu pada permukaan kayu. Pengaruh fumigasi sangat rendah, hanya 8,69% An. aconitus mati dua minggu setelah penyemprota

A trial of thermal fogging using malathion 5% EC against fleas was conducted two cycles with an interval of two weeks application, in the rodent borne disease enzootic areas, in Boyolali, Central Java. The objective of the trial is to determine the efficacy of malathion 5% EC applied by thermal fogging compared to dusting method by Fanara, et al (1979). Result of the trial showed that the crude index flea was reduced 67.4% - 83.6% for 14 days, compared to 65% - 94% reduction for 120 days by dusting application
