Get PDF
In this study, a convenient synthesis of a series of La(III) complexes (in nanoscales) with different organic ligands was prepared by green chemical method. The physicochemical properties of the nanocomplexes were obtained. The SEM and TEM techniques were used to confirm the nanosize and morphology. The cytotoxicity of the newly synthesized compounds was demonstrated and tested for their anticancer activity against common pathogenic organisms and against human epithelial colorectal adenocarcinoma cells (Caco2), Vero, and MCF-7 cells. By examining its pharmacological activity, we were able to identify new potent and selective anticancer agents. Also, the structures succeeded to affect and stop the growth of Klebsiella pneumonia strain, and the results revealed promising activity. In addition, an electrospinning technique was used for the fabrication of novel bio-medicated nanofibers which are applied for wound dressing as local chemotherapy for skin injuries

The study aimed at identifying the extent to which kindergarten teachers practiced some of the activities of developing sensory and creative thinking on the kindergarten children in the city of Amman, and knowing the level of practice of teachers in kindergartens of the activities of the development of sensory and creative thinking which was prepared by the researchers according to "the number of years of experience, and the type of qualification and academic degree. For this purpose, the researchers designed a questionnaire consisted of (47) items in which two types of activities were chosen, which develop thinking patterns: sensory (24) activities and creative (23) activities and applied them to (78) kindergarten teachers in the regions of Amman City. The researchers relied on the SPSS statistical program and the Kruskal-Walls test was used to determine the significance of the differences in the sample responses. The study has reached the following conclusions: The practice of kindergarten teachers for some activities of the development of motor sensory thinking among the kindergarten children in the city of Amman was high, the arithmetic mean reached (2.53) for some sensory thinking activities, which was slightly more than the creativity that reached (2.39). The results also showed that there are no differences in the implementation of activities related to the development of sensory thinking and creative thinking in research by kindergarten teachers due to the number of years of experience variable. The views of kindergarten teachers are similar in the application of activities related to the development of sensory thinking and creative thinking, whatever their scientific qualifications. Keywords: activities for the development of sensory thinking, activities for the development of creative thinking, kindergartens

Adaptive Control of IoT/M2M Devices in Smart Buildings using Heterogeneous Wireless Networks

With the rapid development of wireless communication technology, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) are becoming essential for many applications. One of the most emblematic IoT/M2M applications is smart buildings. The current Building Automation Systems (BAS) are limited by many factors, including the lack of integration of IoT and M2M technologies, unfriendly user interfacing, and the lack of a convergent solution. Therefore, this paper proposes a better approach of using heterogeneous wireless networks consisting of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) and Mobile Cellular Networks (MCNs) for IoT/M2M smart building systems. One of the most significant outcomes of this research is to provide accurate readings to the server, and very low latency, through which users can easily control and monitor remotely the proposed system that consists of several innovative services, namely smart parking, garden irrigation automation, intrusion alarm, smart door, fire and gas detection, smart lighting, smart medication reminder, and indoor air quality monitoring. All these services are designed and implemented to control and monitor from afar the building via our free mobile application named Raniso which is a local server that allows remote control of the building. This IoT/M2M smart building system is customizable to meet the needs of users, improving safety and quality of life while reducing energy consumption. Additionally, it helps prevent the loss of resources and human lives by detecting and managing risks.Comment: Accepted in IEEE Sensors Journa

Design of a Circular Concentric Microstrip Patch Antenna Array for WI-FI Band Energy Harvesting

Get PDF
Wireless networks have gone through unprecedented changes in the last decade owing to the rise in the number of users. Radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting (EH) (termed as RF-EH) can be a potential solution to exploit this traffic in communication systems, one of the key issues is designing a compact antenna array while providing reliable capturing characteristics over the operating band. In energy harvesting systems, printed slot antennas have received much attention owing to their matching characteristics. In addition, they present really appealing physical features, such as simple structure, small size, and low cost. In this paper, a small circular concentric antenna array utilizing rectangular radiating patch elements and defected ground structure for RF-EH is proposed. The antenna is designed using the CST Microwave Studio software package and realized on a Roger 5880 substrate with = 2.2 and ℎ = 3.18 . The simulations demonstrated the effective performance of the proposed circular antenna array structure in terms of high gain of about 15.8 dBi, high efficiency, and the possibility to collect RF power from all direction

Knowledge, attitudes, and practices of community pharmacists toward the management of acne vulgaris in Palestine: a cross-sectional study

Background Acne vulgaris (AV) is a common dermatological disease affecting almost 85% of teenagers. Patients with AV usually present at community pharmacies during the early stages of their disease. Aim The aim of this study was to assess community pharmacists’ knowledge, attitudes, and practice toward AV management in West Bank in Palestine. Methods This study was a cross-sectional questionnaire-based study. The questionnaire included four sections: 1) demographic, 2) knowledge, 3) attitude and practice items related causes, and 4) treatment options and counseling during management of patients with AV. A convenience sampling method was implemented in this study. Parametric and non-parametric tests were used to compare different issues as appropriate. P < 0.05 were considered significant. Result A total of 270 community pharmacists were interviewed, and more than half (54.1%) were males. The study revealed that community pharmacists had an inadequate level of knowledge on management of AV; only 7.7% had high levels of knowledge. Pharmacists have positive attitude regarding AV management, but inadequate knowledge was reflected on their treatment practices; only 10% of participants independently dealt with AV without referral. Pharmacists with a low level of knowledge showed five times more referrals than those with a high level of knowledge (OR: 5.3; P < 0.001), and those with a bachelor degree showed three times more referrals than postgraduates (OR: 3.3; P < 0.001). Conclusion There is a demand to update dermatological knowledge of community pharmacists and encourage them to attend structured training programs about the management of AV.Funding source: None

The sun light, that gives the clean, fleckless and cheap energy which is an environmental friend; becomes the demand and on-call of the researchers in the last century. In this paper, the three natural dyes, namely; (Beta Vulgarize, Curcuma Longa and Vulgaris var. cicla) were successfully and swimmingly synthesized by dissolved in acetone solvent. The optical properties; absorbance, transmission, reflection, absorption coefficient and energy band gap were carefully and solicitously studied using ultra violet visible spectrometer UV.vis. The vibration modes for the three samples were also determined and delimited using Fourier Transform Infra-red spectroscopy FTIR. The efficiency of dye sensitized solar cell DSSC was studied using and utilisation IV characteristic for three natural dyes (Beta Vulgarize, Curcuma Longa and Vulgaris var. cicla), where the cell was fabricated and processed by coating a conducting proceeding substrate of (FTO) using titanium dioxide TiO2. The power conversion efficiency was calculated and reckoned, which found to be [0.583, 0.539 and 0.285], respectively. The highest efficiency obtained from this DSSC sensitized by Beta Vulgarize which was 0.583%, and thus might be due to its concentrated, focussed dye and colour.&nbsp
