Studies on trematode parasites of air breathing fishes of Awangsoi Lake, Manipur

The present investigation deals with a systematic survey of trematode parasites of air breathing fishes from Awangsoi Lake collected during 2008-2009. The air breathing fishes found in Awangsoi Lake are Channa punctatus, Clarias batrachus, Channa striatus, Channa orientalis, Anabas testudineus and Heteropneustes fossilis. During the study period the following 5 species of trematodes were collected : Clinostomum complanatum, Allocreadium handia, Allocreadium fasciatusi, Astiotrema reniferum and Genarcopsis goppo. The percentage of abundance was found to be maximum in Astiotrema reniferum and Anabas testudineus harbours the maximum number of parasites

HELMINTH PARASITES OF FISHES OF AWANGSOI FISHERY, MANIPUR

Present communication deals with helminth parasites of the fishes of Awangsoi Lake, Bishnupur, Manipur, India. The finding includes four nematodes namely, Procamallanus (Procamallanus) saccobranchi, Camallanus anahantis, Paraquimperia manipurensis and one juvenile stage of genus Syphacfa, five trematodes i.e. Allocreadium handiai, A. faciatusi and Astiotrema reniferum, Clinostomum complanatum and Genarcopsis goppo three cestodes i.e. Djombangia penetrans, Capingenioides singhi and Lytocestus bishnupurensis, and two acanthocephala i.e. Pallisentis ophiocephali and Acanthocephalus sp

STUDIES ON CESTODE PARASITES OF MANIPUR : AN OBSERVATION ON SOME CARYOPHYLLID INFECTIONS IN SOME FRESHWATER FISHES OF MANIPUR

The present paper deals with redescription and new locality report of some caryophyllid, infected in some freshwater fishes found in Loktak Lake, Manipur. Two species of the genus Lytocestus, namely Lytocestus birmanicus Lynsdale, 1956 and Lytocestus bishnupurensis Shomorendra et al. 2003 from fish host Clarias batrachus and Mystus sp., Djombangia penetrans Bovien, 1926 and Capingentoides singhi Verma, 1971 from fish host Clarias batrachus. All the species except L. hishnupurensis are reported for the first time from the state of Manipur
