    Factors influencing intention to create new venture among young graduates

    The purpose of this paper is to investigate the factors that are influencing the young graduates for intention to create new venture. The study further highlights how the attraction, networking support, entrepreneurial capabilities, self-independence and self-reliance influence the young students to initiate their new businesses. The sample size of this study was 255 final semester students of various disciplines in different universities from Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The survey based questionnaire was used for data collection. Based on findings this study concludes that all variables, included in the study, play a vital role in new venture creation. Therefore, on the basis of findings this study concludes that young students are more motivated towards new venture creation and start their own businesses.Influencing factors, new venture creation, different disciplines, young graduates, motivation

    An Activating Mutation in sos-1 Identifies Its Dbl Domain as a Critical Inhibitor of the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Pathway during Caenorhabditis elegans Vulval Development

    Proper regulation of receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK)-Ras-mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathways is critical for normal development and the prevention of cancer. SOS is a dual-function guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) that catalyzes exchange on Ras and Rac. Although the physiologic role of SOS and its CDC25 domain in RTK-mediated Ras activation is well established, the in vivo function of its Dbl Rac GEF domain is less clear. We have identified a novel gain-of-function missense mutation in the Dbl domain of Caenorhabditis elegans SOS-1 that promotes epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling in vivo. Our data indicate that a major developmental function of the Dbl domain is to inhibit EGF-dependent MAPK activation. The amount of inhibition conferred by the Dbl domain is equal to that of established trans-acting inhibitors of the EGFR pathway, including c-Cbl and RasGAP, and more than that of MAPK phosphatase. In conjunction with molecular modeling, our data suggest that the C. elegans mutation, as well as an equivalent mutation in human SOS1, activates the MAPK pathway by disrupting an autoinhibitory function of the Dbl domain on Ras activation.     Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma, an Immunohistological Analysis

    Background: To detect the presence of keratin in apparently non-keratinizing squamous cell carcinomas by immunoperoxidase staining. This is important because keratinizing tumours are less radiosensitive and non-keratinizing are more radio responsive. Methods: This prospective study was conducted at King Edward Medical College and Post Graduate Medical Institute, Lahore over six months, A total of 45 patients suffering from squamous cell carcinomas of skin were included in the study.Both H and E and immunoperoxidase stainings were performed. Positive and negative controls were set up. The results of both types of staining were compared for each case. Results: Four groups were identified. Nineteen cases showed obvious keratinization on both H and E and immunoperoxidase staining.Eight cases had doubtful keratinization on H and E but showed more obvious keratinization on immunoperoxidase staining. Seven cases were non-keratinizing on H and E staining but revealed keratin on immunoperoxidase analysis.Eleven cases were non-keratinizing on H and E as well as on immunoperoxidase analysis. Conclusion: Immunohistological technique can help us in revising and modifying our H and E impression of a squamous cell carcinoma.     Looks can be deceiving: adrenal Teratoma causing diagnostic difficulty

    Teratomas are unusual tumours that derived from totipotent cells with their origin from more than one or usually all three germ cells. Here authors are presenting a case of primary retroperitoneal tumour that is a rare clinical entity. A 19-year-old male presented with right lumbar pain and was found to have complex cyst with large calcification in right adrenal gland on imaging. Intraoperatively, he was found to have a solid mass with areas of soft consistency, which was excised en bloc. On gross examination, the cyst contained pieces of bone, few teeth, and hairs entangled in mucinous material. On histological evaluation, it was confirmed to be mature teratoma arising from the right adrenal gland. He made uneventful recovery and was kept well on annual follow-up

    Ischemic colitis or melanosis coli: a case report

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Melanosis Coli is described as black or brown discolouration of the mucosa of the colon. Its a benign condition, which arises from anthraquinone laxative abuse and has no symptoms of its own. The main importance of diagnosing Melanosis Coli correctly lies in the fact that if its extensive, there may be difficulty in differentiating it from ischemic colitis.</p> <p>Case presentation</p> <p>We present a case of extensive Melanosis Coli involving the whole of large bowel that appeared gangrenous. A sub total colectomy was performed on presumed diagnosis of ischemic bowel.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>This report reminds the clinicians that extensive Melanosis Coli may mimic ischemic colitis and thus must be considered as a differential diagnosis.</p
