Critical Success Factors in Developing, Implementing, and Teaching a Web Development Course

    Get PDF
As universities respond to the recent demand for E-commerce, faculty members are now being assigned the task of developing, implementing, and teaching E-commerce courses. Since E-commerce is intertwined in almost all areas of business, most business courses now include some discussion on pertinent E-commerce topics. However, many information systems departments are discovering the need for a course that exclusively deals with the technical issues of E-commerce or web development. This study presents several critical success factors in developing and offering a course focused exclusively on web development. Critical success factors presented include book and software adoption, where the course fits in the curriculum, the skill sets of students entering the web development course, and faculty development

Appointment Notes/On Unwanted Help and the Misuse of Empathy

The pandemic has shed light on a number of injustices. In this context, I revisit a comic I wrote to sort through an experience of ableism in academia. I encourage readers to think deeply about what teachers mean when we offer help as members of a caring profession, and consider some ways that the misuse of empathy can impede impactful help. I end with a call for systemic organization and resources to support workers in caring professions

Summary of directional divergence characteristics of several high performance aircraft configurations

    Get PDF
The present paper summarizes the high-angle-of-attack characteristics of a number of high-performance aircraft as determined from model force tests and free-flight model tests and correlates these characteristics with the dynamic directional-stability parameter. This correlation shows that the dynamic directional-stability parameter correlates fairly well with directional divergence. Data are also presented to show the effect of some airframe modifications on the directional divergence potential of the configuration. These results show that leading-edge slates seem to be the most effective airframe modification for reducing or eliminating the directional divergence potential of aircraft with moderately swept wings
