Untuk itu perlu ada pengembangan inovasi produk makanan dan minuman yang dijual. Masalaha yang dihadapi oleh usaha makanan dan minuman di kantin dan UKM kampus adalah masih kurangnya inovasi karena kurangnya berpikir inovatif dari pelaku usaha yang menjual produk makanan dan minuman. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah meningkatkan kemampuan inovasi dari usaha-usaha yang menjual makanan dan minuman di seputaran kampus khususnya di Kampus Unsrat Manado.     Lateral clearance between vehicles and bicycles on urban roads.

    Paper presented at the 32nd Annual Southern African Transport Conference 8-11 July 2013 "Transport and Sustainable Infrastructure", CSIR International Convention Centre, Pretoria, South Africa.The clearance motorists allow when they overtake bicyclists is critical to the safety and level of service experienced by bicyclists in mixed traffic. Recent calls for mandatory minimum lateral clearances in South Africa indicate its importance to the bicycling and sustainable transport communities. This study reports on locally measured lateral clearances between bicycles and vehicles on urban roads in Tshwane. An ultrasonic device was used to measure passing clearances under varying traffic and roadway conditions, and the paper reports on the range and variability of the observed clearances. A regression analysis was performed to identify the factors affecting lateral clearance, such as lane width, vehicular speed, and density. Guidance is offered around the combination of vehicle volume and lane width that can be expected to result in given levels of bicycle safety. This guidance might help practitioners to identify pro-actively roadways with high accident potential for cyclists, or to identify suitable roads for inclusion in an areawide safe bicycle network.This paper was transferred from the original CD ROM created for this conference.     Sturmian morphisms, the braid group B_4, Christoffel words and bases of F_2

    We give a presentation by generators and relations of a certain monoid generating a subgroup of index two in the group Aut(F_2) of automorphisms of the rank two free group F_2 and show that it can be realized as a monoid in the group B_4 of braids on four strings. In the second part we use Christoffel words to construct an explicit basis of F_2 lifting any given basis of the free abelian group Z^2. We further give an algorithm allowing to decide whether two elements of F_2 form a basis or not. We also show that, under suitable conditions, a basis has a unique conjugate consisting of two palindromes.Comment: 25 pages, 4 figure

    High Pressure Thermoelasticity of Body-centered Cubic Tantalum

    We have investigated the thermoelasticity of body-centered cubic (bcc) tantalum from first principles by using the linearized augmented plane wave (LAPW) and mixed--basis pseudopotential methods for pressures up to 400 GPa and temperatures up to 10000 K. Electronic excitation contributions to the free energy were included from the band structures, and phonon contributions were included using the particle-in-a-cell (PIC) model. The computed elastic constants agree well with available ultrasonic and diamond anvil cell data at low pressures, and shock data at high pressures. The shear modulus c44c_{44} and the anisotropy change behavior with increasing pressure around 150 GPa because of an electronic topological transition. We find that the main contribution of temperature to the elastic constants is from the thermal expansivity. The PIC model in conjunction with fast self-consistent techniques is shown to be a tractable approach to studying thermoelasticity.Comment: To be appear in Physical Review

    Sex differences in nucleus accumbens transcriptome profiles associated with susceptibility versus resilience to subchronic variable stress

    Depression and anxiety disorders are more prevalent in females, but the majority of research in animal models, the first step in finding new treatments, has focused predominantly on males. Here we report that exposure to subchronic variable stress (SCVS) induces depression-associated behaviors in female mice, whereas males are resilient as they do not develop these behavioral abnormalities. In concert with these different behavioral responses, transcriptional analysis of nucleus accumbens (NAc), a major brain reward region, by use of RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) revealed markedly different patterns of stress regulation of gene expression between the sexes. Among the genes displaying sex differences was DNA methyltransferase 3a (Dnmt3a), which shows a greater induction in females after SCVS. Interestingly, Dnmt3a expression levels were increased in the NAc of depressed humans, an effect seen in both males and females. Local overexpression of Dnmt3a in NAc rendered male mice more susceptible to SCVS, whereas Dnmt3a knock-out in this region rendered females more resilient, directly implicating this gene in stress responses. Associated with this enhanced resilience of female mice upon NAc knock-out of Dnmt3a was a partial shift of the NAc female transcriptome toward the male pattern after SCVS. These data indicate that males and females undergo different patterns of transcriptional regulation in response to stress and that a DNA methyltransferase in NAc contributes to sex differences in stress vulnerability

    Piecewise Linear Models for the Quasiperiodic Transition to Chaos

    We formulate and study analytically and computationally two families of piecewise linear degree one circle maps. These families offer the rare advantage of being non-trivial but essentially solvable models for the phenomenon of mode-locking and the quasi-periodic transition to chaos. For instance, for these families, we obtain complete solutions to several questions still largely unanswered for families of smooth circle maps. Our main results describe (1) the sets of maps in these families having some prescribed rotation interval; (2) the boundaries between zero and positive topological entropy and between zero length and non-zero length rotation interval; and (3) the structure and bifurcations of the attractors in one of these families. We discuss the interpretation of these maps as low-order spline approximations to the classic ``sine-circle'' map and examine more generally the implications of our results for the case of smooth circle maps.     The Infrared Continuum Spectrum of VY CMa

    We combine spectra of VY CMa obtained with the short- and long-wavelength spectrometers, SWS and LWS, on the Infrared Space Observatory to provide a first detailed continuum spectrum of this highly luminous star. The circumstellar dust cloud through which the star is observed is partially self-absorbing, which makes for complex computational modeling. We review previous work and comment on the range of uncertainties about the physical traits and mineralogical composition of the modeled disk. We show that these uncertainties significantly affect the modeling of the outflow and the estimated mass loss. In particular, we demonstrate that a variety of quite diverse models can produce good fits to the observed spectrum. If the outflow is steady, and the radiative repulsion on the dust cloud dominates the star's gravitational attraction, we show that the total dust mass-loss rate is 4×106M\sim 4\times 10^{-6}M_{\odot} yr1^{-1}, assuming that the star is at a distance of 1.5 kpc. Several indications, however, suggest that the outflow from the star may be spasmodic. We discuss this and other problems facing the construction of a physically coherent model of the dust cloud and a realistic mass-loss analysis
