Celem pracy jest przedstawienie modelu liniowego z efektem losowym, a także próba dopasowania takiego modelu do danych rzeczywistych. W pierwszym rozdziale omówiona zostaje postać modelu, a także różnica między klasycznym modelem liniowym, a modelem mieszanym. Drugi rozdział dotyczy estymacji parametrów w modelach mieszanych. Ostatni rozdział stanowi próbę zastosowania rozważanych modeli do przewidywania wyników na Mistrzostwach Świata w łyżwiarstwie figurowym kobiet.The aim of this thesis is to introduce a random effect model and to attempt to fit such a model to real data. The first chapter discusses a formulation of the model and the difference between classical linear models and mixed models. The second chapter concentrates on the estimation of the parameters of the model. The last chapter is an attempt to apply considered models to predict the results of the World Figure Skating Championships

Ridge Regression

Celem tej pracy jest przedstawienie modelu regresji grzbietowej i porównanie go z klasycznym modelem regresji liniowej. Rozdział pierwszy omawia model regresji liniowej. Rozdział drugi opisuje problem współliniowości, jaki może pojawić się wśród zmiennych objaśniających. Rozdziały trzeci i czwarty skupiają się na przedstawieniu podstawowych własności estymatora grzbietowego oraz porównaniu go z klasycznym estymatorem najmniejszych kwadratów.This thesis aims to present the ridge regression model and to compare it with the classical linear regression model. The first chapter discusses the linear regression model. The second chapter describes the multicollinearity problem, which may occur among the explanatory variables. The third and fourth chapters concentrate on the basic properties of the ridge estimator and comparison the ridge estimator with the ordinary least squares estimator
