Case 12-1987 A 28-Year-Old Woman with Pain in the Buttocks and Leg and Lesions of the Sacrum and Ilium
Presentation of Case
A 28-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of lesions of the sacrum and ilium.
She was well until three years earlier, when pain and numbness developed in the posterolateral left thigh and leg during the fifth month of her second pregnancy. The pain gradually worsened over the next three years and spread to involve the lumbosacral region and both buttocks. X-ray films of the lower spine and pelvis (Fig. 1) showed a well-demarcated osteosclerotic lesion in the left sacral wing and a second lesion in the body of the sacrum that appeared to be osteolytic . .

Permission from IEEE must be obtained for all other users, including reprinting/ republishing this material for advertising or promotional purposes, creating new collective works for resale or redistribution to servers or lists, or reuse of any copyrighted components of this work in other works. The problem considered is the extraction of features from a complicated set of images. In this approach the basic concepts used in the feature extraction process are: 1)an algorithm that enumerates regions; 2)a search for large objects in the picture first and then their details; 3)a description of the type of picture class which guides the feature extraction; 4)"a field of vision" concept
