Dynamic Interconnection Techniques for Parallel Communication

    Get PDF
Parallel computing has contributed significantly to Defence applications. This field has helped in the development of dedicated hardware/software for ballistic missile defence system. In parallel computers, interprocessors communication mechanism strongly influences overall performance of the system. If a parallel computer is composed of n processors and each processor has a performance p, then the maximum potential of the system is np. The present review concentrates on interprocessor communication. Crossbar and delta network is discussed in detail. Cogent XTM - a better solution over crossbar network is also discussed

Finite Element Analysis of Collapse of Metallic Tubes

Quasi-static axial and lateral compression tests were conducted on aluminium tubes of circular, rectangular, and square cross sections on a universal testing machine (Instron model 1197).During the compression process, different tubes were collapsed in different modes of collapse. These compression processes were also modelled using FORGE2 finite element code. The codehas the capabilities of automatic mesh generation, modelling of die, creation of material data file, carrying out the finite element computations, and post-processing of results. The deformingtube material was modelled as rigid-visco-plastic. Development of different modes of collapsewas investigated experimentally and computationally. The experimental load-compression curvesand deformed shapes are compared with the computed results and found in good agreement. It is found that the proposed finite element models of the different compression processes arecapable of predicting the modes of collapse

Phytomedicine based on principles of Ayurveda are need of the hour and is more feasible than allopathic drugs which is not only more expensive in terms of “leads” but is also associated with many unwanted effects. Ethnopharmacological usage and the literature review revealed that the Abutilon indicum, Zea mays, Tribulus terrestris, Phyllanthus niruri  have significant antiurolithiatic activity. After the detailed study of powder of ethanolic extract of seeds of abutilon indicum, tassel of zea mays, fruits of Tribulus terrestris and leaves of Phyllanthus niruri a formulation using the plant materials was prepared. The formulation was evaluated and standardized as per the Pharmacopoeial standards. The results of preformulation studies revealed that all the values were within acceptable limit. Formulation showed appreciable hardness characteristics (4.35 kg/cm2), which facilitates its fast disintegration. The friability (0.8%) of formulation indicated that the tablets were mechanically stable. As the average weight of tablets was 505 mg, the acceptable weight variation range is ±7%. Hence the entire formulated tablet passed the weight variation test. The disintegration time of formulations was more than 1 minute. Thus the claims made by the traditional Indian systems of medicine regarding the use of this plant in the treatment of antiurolithiatic activity confirmed. The final conclusion drawn from the above mentioned data is that the possible use of these economical and relatively nontoxic, non-hazardous natural remedies of plant origin may further be explored as they are devoid of major side effects associated with synthetic agents. Effect of Introduction of Fault and Imperfect Debugging on Release Time

    Get PDF
One of the most important decisions related to the efficient management of testing phase of software development life cycle is to determine when to stop testing and release the software in the market. Most of the testing processes are imperfect once. In this paper first we have discussed an optimal release time problem for an imperfect faultdebugging model due to Kapur et al considering effect of perfect and imperfect debugging separately on the total expected software cost. Next, we proposed a SRGM incorporating the effect of imperfect fault debugging and error generation. The proposed model is validated on a data set cited in literature and a release time problem is formulated minimizing the expected cost subject to a minimum reliability level to be achieved by the release time using the proposed model. Solution method is discussed to solve such class of problem. A numerical illustration is given for both type of release problem and finally a sensitivity analysis is performed

Axial compression of tubular metallic shells having combined tube-frusta geometry

    Get PDF
The present paper deals with the experimental and computational study of collapse of the metallic shells having combined tube-frusta geometry subjected to axial compression between two parallel plates. Shells are having top one third lengths as tube and remaining bottom two third length as frusta. Shells were tested to identify their modes of collapse and associated energy absorption capacity. An axisymmetric Finite Element computational model of collapse process is presented and analysed, using a non-linear FE code FORGE2 [17]. Six noded triangular elements were used to descretize the domain. The material of the shells was idealized as rigid visco-plastic. Experimental and computed results of the deformed shapes and their corresponding load-compression and energy-compression curves were compared to validate the computational model. On the basis of the obtained results development of the axisymmetric mode of collapse has been presented, analysed and discussed
