(4RS)-Methyl 4-cyano-4-cyclohexyl-4-phenylbutanoate
In the crystal structure of the title compound, C18H23NO2, there are only van der Waals interactions present. The cyclohexyl ring has a chair conformation. The longer axes of the displacement parameters of the non-H atoms forming the ethylmethylcarboxylate skeleton are perpendicular to the plane through the non-H atoms of this skeleton
Giant Magneto-Optical Sch\"{a}fer-Hubert Effect in Two-Dimensional van der Waals Antiferromagnets \textit{M}PS (\textit{M}=Mn, Fe, Ni)
The recent discovery of long-range magnetic order in atomically thin films
has triggered particular interest in two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals (vdW)
magnetic materials. In this paper, we perform a systematic theoretical study of
the magneto-optical Sch\"{a}fer-Hubert effect (MOSHE) in 2D vdW
antiferromagnetic \textit{M}PS (\textit{M} = Mn, Fe, Ni) with multifold
intralayer and interlayer magnetic orders. The formula for evaluating the MOSHE
in 2D magnets is derived by considering the influence of a non-magnetic
substrate. The MOSHE of monolayer and bilayer \textit{M}PS are considerably
large (), originating from the strong anisotropy of in-plane
optical conductivity. The Sch\"{a}fer-Hubert rotation angles are surprisingly
insensitive to the orientations of the N\'{e}el vector, while the
Sch\"{a}fer-Hubert ellipticities are identified to be a good criterion to
distinguish different interlayer magnetic orders. Our work establishes a
theoretical framework for exploring novel 2D vdW magnets and facilitates the
promising applications of the 2D \textit{M}PS family in antiferromagnetic
nanophotonic devices
Isolation and Characterization of Polymorphic Microsatellite Markers for Two Subterranean Termites
We isolated 15 and 18 highly polymorphic genomic microsatellite markers from two subterranean termites, Reticulitermes aculabialis and R. labralis, respectively. A total of 53 alleles were detected in 15 microsatellite loci of R. aculabialis, and the alleles were 3.533±1.302 (mean±SD), while the corresponding data of R. labralis were 115 detected alleles in 18 microsatellite loci with 6.389±1.754 alleles. The observed and expected heterozygosity was 0.496±0.236 and 0.564±0.125 in R. aculabialis, and 0.368±0.263 and 0.702±0.115 in R. labralis, respectively. Seven loci were highly polymorphic (PIC>0.5) in R. aculabialis, and 15 loci were highly polymorphic (PIC>0.5) in R. labralis. All loci showed Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium. These polymorphic markers provide useful tools for population genetic and breeding system studies of subterranean termites
Route Choice Model Considering Generalized Travel Cost Based on Game Theory
This paper aims at testing the influence of emission factors on travelers’ behavior of route choice. The generalized travel cost is defined as the linear weighted sum of emission factors, travel time, and travel time reliability. The relational model of exhaust volume and traffic volume is established using the BPR (Bureau of Public Road) function to calculate the cost of travel regarding emission. The BPR function is used to measure the road segment travel time, while the reliability is used to quantify the cost of travel time fluctuation. At last, the route choice model considering the generalized travel cost is established based on the game theory. The calculating and analyzing of results under a miniature road network show that the weight coefficient of travel cost influences the travelers’ behavior of route choice remarkably and the route choice model which takes emission into account can reduce the exhaust of road network effectively, approximately 11.4% in this case
Percutaneous closure of a post-traumatic ventricular septal defect with a patent ductus arteriosus occluder
OBJECTIVE: Ventricular septal defects resulting from post-traumatic cardiac injury are very rare. Percutaneous closure has emerged as a method for treating this disorder. We wish to report our experience in three patients who underwent percutaneous closure of a post-traumatic ventricular septal defect with a patent ductus arteriosus occluder. METHODS: We treated three patients with post-traumatic ventricular septal defects caused by stab wounds with knives. After the heart wound was repaired, patient examinations revealed ventricular septal defects with pulmonary/systemic flow ratios (Qp/Qs) of over 1.7. The post-traumatic ventricular septal defects were closed percutaneously with a patent ductus arteriosus occluder (Lifetech Scientific (Shenzhen) Co., LTD, Guangdong, China) utilizing standard techniques. RESULTS: Post-operative transthoracic echocardiography revealed no residual left-to-right shunt and indicated normal ventricular function. In addition, 320-slice computerized tomography showed that the occluder was well placed and exhibited normal morphology. CONCLUSION: Our experiences indicate that closure of a post-traumatic ventricular septal defect using a patent ductus arteriosus occluder is feasible, safe, and effective
Observation of Non-Hermitian Skin Effect in Thermal Diffusion
The paradigm shift of the Hermitian systems into the non-Hermitian regime
profoundly modifies the inherent topological property, leading to various
unprecedented effects such as the non-Hermitian skin effect (NHSE). In the past
decade, the NHSE effect has been demonstrated in quantum, optical and acoustic
systems. Besides in those non-Hermitian wave systems, the NHSE in diffusive
systems has not yet been explicitly demonstrated, despite recent abundant
advances in the study of topological thermal diffusion. Here we first design a
thermal diffusion lattice based on a modified Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model which
enables the observation of diffusive NHSE. In the proposed model, the periodic
heat exchange rate among adjacent unit cells and the asymmetric temperature
field coupling inside unit cells can be judiciously realized by appropriate
configurations of structural parameters of unit cells. The transient
concentration feature of temperature field on the boundary regardless of
initial excitation conditions can be clearly observed, indicating the
occurrence of transient thermal skin effect. Nonetheless, we experimentally
demonstrated the NHSE and verified the remarkable robustness against various
defects. Our work provides a platform for exploration of non-Hermitian physics
in the diffusive systems, which has important applications in efficient heat
collection, highly sensitive thermal sensing and others.Comment: 23 pages, 5 figure
