Generalised CP and A4A_4 Family Symmetry

We perform a comprehensive study of family symmetry models based on A4A_4 combined with the generalised CP symmetry HCPH_{\rm{CP}}. We investigate the lepton mixing parameters which can be obtained from the original symmetry A4ā‹ŠHCPA_4\rtimes H_{\rm{CP}} breaking to different remnant symmetries in the neutrino and charged lepton sectors. We find that only one case is phenomenologically viable, namely GCPĪ½ā‰…Z2SƗHCPĪ½G^{\nu}_{\rm{CP}}\cong Z^{S}_2\times H^{\nu}_{\rm{CP}} in the neutrino sector and GCPlā‰…Z3Tā‹ŠHCPlG^{l}_{\rm{CP}}\cong Z^{T}_3\rtimes H^{l}_{\rm{CP}} in the charged lepton sector, leading to the prediction of no CP violation, namely Ī“CP\delta_{CP} and the Majorana phases Ī±21\alpha_{21} and Ī±31\alpha_{31} are all equal to either zero or Ļ€\pi. We then propose an effective supersymmetric model based on the symmetry A4ā‹ŠHCPA_4\rtimes H_{\rm{CP}} in which trimaximal lepton mixing is predicted together with either zero CP violation or Ī“CPā‰ƒĀ±Ļ€/2\delta_{CP}\simeq\pm \pi/2 with non-trivial Majorana phases. An ultraviolet completion of the effective model yields a neutrino mass matrix which depends on only three real parameters. As a result of this, all three CP phases and the absolute neutrino mass scale are determined, the atmospheric mixing angle is maximal, and the Dirac CP can either be preserved with Ī“CP=0,Ļ€\delta_{CP}=0,\pi or maximally broken with Ī“CP=Ā±Ļ€/2\delta_{CP}=\pm \pi /2 and sharp predictions for the Majorana phases and neutrinoless double beta decay.Comment: 38 pages, 3 figure

Generalized Ī¼āˆ’Ļ„\mu-\tau reflection symmetry and leptonic CP violation

We propose a generalized Ī¼āˆ’Ļ„\mu-\tau reflection symmetry to constrain the lepton flavor mixing parameters. We obtain a new correlation between the atmospheric mixing angle Īø23\theta_{23} and the "Dirac" CP violation phase Ī“CP\delta_{\rm CP}. Only in a specific limit our proposed CP transformation reduces to standard Ī¼āˆ’Ļ„\mu-\tau reflection, for which Īø23\theta_{23} and Ī“CP\delta_{CP} are both maximal. The "Majorana" phases are predicted to lie at their CP-conserving values with important implications for the neutrinoless double beta decay rates. We also study the phenomenological implications of our scheme for present and future neutrino oscillation experiments including T2K, NOĪ½\nuA and DUNE.Comment: 14 pages, 9 figures, latex, Final version to appear in Physics Letters

Warped flavor symmetry predictions for neutrino physics

A realistic five-dimensional warped scenario with all standard model fields propagating in the bulk is proposed. Mass hierarchies would in principle be accounted for by judicious choices of the bulk mass parameters, while fermion mixing angles are restricted by a Ī”(27)\Delta(27) flavor symmetry broken on the branes by flavon fields. The latter gives stringent predictions for the neutrino mixing parameters, and the Dirac CP violation phase, all described in terms of only two independent parameters at leading order. The scheme also gives an adequate CKM fit and should be testable within upcoming oscillation experiments.Comment: 19 pages, 2 figue

Viral infection of mammalian cells activates an innate antiviral immune response characterized by production of interferon and subsequent enhanced transcription of interferonā€“stimulated genes important for antiviral defense. Cells recognize viral infection through various pathogenā€“associated molecular patterns, of which dsRNA seems to be the most important. In mammals, several gene products are important in recognition of dsRNA: RIGā€“I, TLR3, PKR and mdaā€“5. Recent research proved that fish possess most of the key elements in recognition of viral infection which indicates that these mechanisms are very similar and evolutionary conserved in vertebrates.Virusna infekcija u stanicama sisavaca potiče urođeni odgovor karakteriziran proizvodnjom interferona i posljedičnom pojačanom transkripcijom interferonima stimuliranih gena, bitnih u obrani organizma od virusa. Stanice prepoznaju virusnu infekciju preko određenih molekularnih uzoraka povezanih s patogenima, od kojih je najvažnija dvolančana RNK. U organizmu sisavaca ključnu ulogu u prepoznavanju dvolančane RNK ima nekoliko gena: RIGā€“I, TLR3, PKR i mdaā€“5. DosadaÅ”nja su istraā€˜ivanja pokazala da ribe posjeduju većinu ključnih elemenata zaduženih za prepoznavanje virusne infekcije, Å”to upućuje na veliku sličnost i evolucijsku očuvanost spomenutih mehanizama

Canonical Charmonium Interpretation for Y(4360) and Y(4660)

In this work, we consider the canonical charmonium assignments for Y(4360) and Y(4660). Y(4660) is good candidate of 53S1\rm 5 ^3S_1 ccĖ‰c\bar{c} state, the possibility of Y(4360) as a 33D1\rm 3 ^3D_1 ccĖ‰c\bar{c} state is studied, and the charmonium hybrid interpretation of Y(4360) can not be excluded completely. We evaluate the e+eāˆ’e^{+}e^{-} leptonic widths, E1 transitions, M1 transitions and the open flavor strong decays of Y(4360) and Y(4660). Experimental tests for the charmonium assignments are suggested.Comment: 32 pages, 4 figure

Thermal radiation in non-static curved spacetimes: quantum mechanical path integrals and configuration space topology

A quantum mechanical path integral derivation is given of a thermal propagator in non-static Gui spacetime. The thermal nature of the propagator is understood in terms of homotopically non-trivial paths in the configuration space appropriate to tortoise coordinates. The connection to thermal emission from collapsing black holes is discussed.Comment: 20 pages, major revised version, 9 figures, new titl

Overcoming Language Dichotomies: Toward Effective Program Comprehension for Mobile App Development

Mobile devices and platforms have become an established target for modern software developers due to performant hardware and a large and growing user base numbering in the billions. Despite their popularity, the software development process for mobile apps comes with a set of unique, domain-specific challenges rooted in program comprehension. Many of these challenges stem from developer difficulties in reasoning about different representations of a program, a phenomenon we define as a "language dichotomy". In this paper, we reflect upon the various language dichotomies that contribute to open problems in program comprehension and development for mobile apps. Furthermore, to help guide the research community towards effective solutions for these problems, we provide a roadmap of directions for future work.Comment: Invited Keynote Paper for the 26th IEEE/ACM International Conference on Program Comprehension (ICPC'18

Systematics of g factors of 2_1^+ states in even-even nuclei from Gd to Pt: A microscopic description by the projected shell model

The systematics of g factor of first excited 2^+ state vs neutron number N is studied by the projected shell model. The study covers the even-even nuclei of all isotopic chains from Gd to Pt. g factors are calculated by using the many-body wavefunctions that reproduces well the energy levels and B(E2)'s of the ground-state bands. For Gd to W isotopes the characteristic feature of the g factor data along an isotopic chain is described by the present model. Deficiency of the model in the g factor description for the heavier Os and Pt isotopes is discussed.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figure
