New Interactive Solar Flare Modeling and Advanced Radio Diagnostics Tools
The coming years will see routine use of solar data of unprecedented spatial
and spectral resolution, time cadence, and completeness in the wavelength
domain. To capitalize on the soon to be available radio facilities such as the
expanded OVSA, SSRT and FASR, and the challenges they present in the
visualization and synthesis of the multi-frequency datasets, we propose that
realistic, sophisticated 3D active region and flare modeling is timely now and
will be a forefront of coronal studies over the coming years. Here we summarize
our 3D modeling efforts, aimed at forward fitting of imaging spectroscopy data,
and describe currently available 3D modeling tools. We also discuss plans for

Incentives for Anticompetitive Behavior by Public Enterprises
We examine the incentives that public enterprises may have to undertake anticompetitive activities. These activities include setting prices below marginal cost, raising the operating costs of existing rivals, erecting entry barriers to preclude the operation of new competitors, and circumventing regulations designed to foster competition. We find that public enterprises often have stronger incentives to pursue these activities than do their private, profit-maximizing counterparts.
Glueball mass measurements from improved staggered fermion simulations
We present the first 2+1 flavour spectrum measurements of glueball states
using high statistics simulations with improved staggered fermions. We find a
spectrum consistent with quenched measurements of scalar, pseudoscalar
andtensor glueball states. The measurements were made using 5000 configurations
at a lattice spacing of 0.123 fm and pion mass of 280 MeV and 3000
configurations at 0.092 fm with a pion mass of 360 MeV. We see some evidence of
coupling to 2 pion states. We compare our results with the experimental
glueball candidate spectrum as well as quenched glueball estimates.Comment: 22 pages, 19 figures and 8 tables, minor additions on mixing

Thermal light cannot be represented as a statistical mixture of single pulses
We ask whether or not thermal light can be represented as a mixture of single
broadband coherent pulses. We find that it cannot. Such a mixture is simply not
rich enough to mimic thermal light; indeed, it cannot even reproduce the
first-order correlation function. We show that it is possible to construct a
modified mixture of single coherent pulses that does yield the correct
first-order correlation function at equal space points. However, as we then
demonstrate, such a mixture cannot reproduce the second-order correlation
