    Predicting Fault-prone Software Module Using Data Mining Technique and Fuzzy Logic

    This paper discusses a new model towards reliability and quality improvement of software systems by predicting fault-prone module before testing. Model utilizes the classification capability of data mining techniques and knowledge stored in software metrics to classify the software module as fault-prone or not fault-prone. A decision tree is constructed using ID3 algorithm for existing project data in order to gain information for the purpose of decision making whether a particular module id fault-prone or not. The gained information is converted into fuzzy rules and integrated with fuzzy inference system to predict fault-prone or not fault-prone software module for target data. The model is also able to predict fault-proneness degree of faulty module. The goal is to help software manager to concentrate their testing efforts to fault-prone modules in order to improve the reliability and quality of the software system. We used NASA projects data set from the PROMOSE repository to validate the predictive accuracy of the model

    Procurement of Goods and services at NIT Rourkela is a thorough and long process and is currently done manually. It involves a large number of activities including fund allocation to sub-heads, enlistment of Goods and Services, registration of Suppliers etc. The purchase process itself can be done in four different ways - Direct Purchase, Advertised Tender Enquiry, Limited Tender Enquiry and Single Tender Enquiry. Also, the entire process requires the approval of a number of staffs at various stages. For this project, this entire process needs to be automated in the form of a web-based application. The application would not only make it easy for the staffs and faculties to carry out the purchase process by reducing their workload and lessening the time delays in the process, but also ensure complete transparency. The application would consist of seven different modules for Managing login, Managing Chart of Accounts (Account Categories, Heads, Sub-Heads, Funds, Goods/Services and Suppliers), Managing Direct Purchase, Managing Advertised Tender Enquiries, Managing Limited Tender Enquiries, Managing Single Tender Enquiries and Managing Purchase Requisitions

    Electrochemical Reduction of 2-(2-Thiazolylazo)-p-cresol at a Pyrolytic Graphite Electrode

    The electrochemical reduction of 2-(2-thiazolylazo)-p-cresol has been studied in phosphate buffers of different pH at a pyrolytic graphite electrode. The reduction of the dye occurred in a single well-defined 4e, 4H+ step and the electrode reaction was found as ECE. The reduction products were separated and characterized by m.p., 1H-NMR and mass spectra. The hydrazo intermediate was found to be unstable and undergoes further reaction, the rate of which obeys the equation rate = r° + k}j [H+] + &QH [OH-]

    IgG4-related disease: a review with an Indian perspective

    IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a recently discovered (2003) complex disease, manifesting in various organs with symptoms mimicking other diseases. Progression of the disease leads to organ failure and hence early diagnosis is an urgent requirement in these patients. There is scarcity in reporting of IgG4-RD globally and in India. The aim of the study was to generate awareness on the epidemiology, diagnosis, and practice trends for IgG4-RD in India and globally, and to aid Indian physicians in early diagnosis of IgG4-RD in patients. Additionally, the evidence currently available in the Indian subpopulation has been evaluated. A preliminary literature search was performed using the PubMed database with the keywords including ‘IgG4-related disease’ in the title and abstract to obtain the relevant data. In total, PubMed identified 2071 publications comprising world-wide studies published in the English language before 30 April 2021. Studies were filtered region-wise by adding ‘India’ to the search strategy and total 60 publications were identified. The relative newness of IgG4-RD and the ensuing paucity in literature limits diagnosis by clinicians. Awareness of the disease among Indian clinicians would improve understanding of the disease and development of a country-specific consensus-based management guideline might lead to better prognosis in Indian patients with IgG4-RD

    Isolation and Screening of Polyhydroxyalkanoates Producing Bacteria from Pulp, Paper, and Cardboard Industry Wastes

    Background. Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are storage materials that accumulate by various bacteria as energy and carbon reserve materials. They are biodegradable, environmentally friendly, and also biocompatible bioplastics. Unlike petrochemical-based plastics that take several decades to fully degrade, PHAs can be completely degraded within a year by variety of microorganisms into CO2 and water. In the present study, we aim to utilize pulp, paper, and cardboard industry sludge and waste water for the isolation and screening of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) accumulating bacteria and production of cost-effective PHB using cardboard industry waste water. Results. A total of 42 isolates showed black-blue coloration when stained with Sudan black B, a preliminary screening agent for lipophilic compounds, and a total of 15 isolates showed positive result with Nile blue A staining, a more specific dye for PHA granules. The isolates NAP11 and NAC1 showed maximum PHA production 79.27% and 77.63% with polymer concentration of 5.236 g/L and 4.042 g/L with cardboard industry waste water. Both of the selected isolates, NAP11 and NAC1, were classified up to genus level by studying their morphological and biochemical characteristics and were found to be Enterococcus sp., Brevundimonas sp. and, respectively. Conclusion. The isolates Enterococcus sp. NAP11 and Brevundimonas sp. NAC1 can be considered as good candidates for industrial production of PHB from cardboard industry waste water. We are reporting for the first time the use of cardboard industry waste water as a cultivation medium for the PHB production
