THE LANGUAGE IN THE LAW-MAKING PROCESS
The paper is dedicated to the role of the language in the law-making process. In the ancient times non-linguistic signs prevailed, and the words were used along with the elements of the ritual widely implemented in the process of creating and implementing legal rules. Representatives of ancient civilizations sought to convert non-linguistic signs into words to denote the rules of human behaviour. The problem of the language in the law-making process was caused out of necessity to issue the laws in the written form. The study and development of the language in the law-making process is relevant up to now as any situation being subject to legal influence can be viewed as legal interpretation and identification. The purpose of the paper is to analyse the language in the law-making process. The essence of law is highlighted in the work as there are different definitions for law in general and the law-making process in particular. The novelty of the research is that the law making process is analysed from the angle of linguistics. The language of law has specific characteristics. Law in all its manifestations is expressed through the language. Legal orders acquire the characteristics of applicable law and appear in official written texts issued by state bodies in a strictly specified order. Any idea related to legal regulations is expressed through the language since it can be perceived and realized provided that it appears in verbal and written form
Exploring chinese language particles use to teach non-native speakers
--The article is dedicated to distinctive features of specific particles and the verbs of motion in the Chinese language. The author uses all elementary meanings of specific particles and the verbs of motion under study in Chinese and their potential equivalents in English which is of current interest. The goal of the article is to examine the most problematic aspects that foreign learners deal with when learning the Chinese language. The author has sought to explain the difficulties of some specific grammatical features of the Chinese language. The article provides theoretical explanations and a great number of examples with parallel translation into English. The examples draw parallels between Chinese and English to provide the learners with valuable practice in grammatical constructions which will help to further develop their language skills. The novelty of the article is that the author identifies specific particles and the verbs of motion related mistakes that foreign learners make and offers the way to avoid them. Significant weight is attached to the most essential features of the Chinese language and their divers meanings. The analysis of a great variety of meanings in the same sentence in Chinese is the novelty of the article. Comparing the particlesβ meaning within an utterance between Chinese and another language makes it possible to avoid confusing situations when translating texts from Chinese into another language. The analysis of the specific particles helps to identify reasons why the learners make mistakes and find the way to avoid them. Β© 2019, Institute of Advanced Scientific Research, Inc.. Interpreting in the context of refugee migration: Emerging professional challenges and needs
The research is implemented within the framework of the RUDN university participation in the Russia-wide 5-100 project. The current importance of the present research rests on the fact that despite long-standing traditions and intensive research work in the field of interpretation studies, the Academia and Industry still make first steps to consider urgent needs in the area of language service provision to refugees in the migration crisis zones. The research aims to explore the interpretersβ needs that produce specific challenges in the context of their work with refugees in the border crossing and temporary settlement zones with the view to consider the concept and constituent components of interpreterβs bespoke training for refugee crisis settings. The research methodology applies the qualitative analysis and rests on theoretical and empirical activities. Materials for theoretical analysis involve publications on the issues under study. Empirical studies encompass observations and case studies of concrete situations outlined by professionals working with refugees in Greece, Italy, Germany, the Yugoslav Successor States, and Russia. The research also includes cluster and factor types of analysis to identify aspects of training and ensure quality when interpreting in the migration crisis settings. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences is used for data procession. The research findings allow for drafting preliminary recommendations on adequate administrative and training tools regarding interpretersβ activities in refugeesβ transit/border crossing zones and refugee camps.
