    Perception of Financial Executives Regarding Merger of Indian Banks: A Critical Statistical Exploration

    The article tries to identify factors affecting merger and acquisition decision in Indian banking sector as well as to find out the motives for mergers Indian banks based on executives’ survey and their perception regarding merger of Indian banks. This empirical research based on executives’ survey finds that new geographical .area, cost advantage,  size advantage, customer base ,inorganic growth, (HR) integration, shareholders’ value, brand quality, financial inclusion, technological advantage, compliance with more regulations, corporate governance, risk perception, CSR, NPA are treated as  the important strategic motives behind  merger of Indian banks   while considering those factors in order of magnitude of computed mean as our empirical result confirms  having surveyed  executives under our study. The ordinal logit model initiates one to infer that most of the respondents consider that corporate governance, in particular, has an important and significant impact on the merging decision of Indian banks. Other notable factors like inorganic growth(IG), Shareholders value(SV), Non- performing assets(NPA), size advantage(SA) and financial inclusion(FI) are not so important factors in deciding merger decision of Indian banks as our ordinal regression results suggest.     Merger and Its Effect on Performance of Indian Public Sector Bank: A Case Study on Merger of Nedungadi Bank and Punjab National Bank

    The study tries to assess analytically the effect of merger of Nedungadi bank and Punjab National Bank on their operating performance in terms of different financial parameters by means of Ordinary least square technique and financial ratios considering database for the period from 2000-01 to 2014-15. Most of the financial indicators of Nedungadi bank and Punjab National Bank display significant improvement in their operational performance during post merger period. Post merger regression analysis suggests that impact of various performance parameters on profitability (ROA) parameter have improved much  in comparison with entire study period’s regression analysis(both pre and post merger). It can be concluded from the regression analysis that merger of Nedungadi bank with PNB has significant impact on profitability performance of the Bidder Bank (PNB).     Adaptability of prospective mother trees of Hevea to the cold climate of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Assam

    Ortet selection in rubber from polycross mother trees grown in stress prone areas is one of the mandate for developing new generation rubber clones for the non-traditional regions. Aiming at this, experiments were laid out at two Regional Research Stations of Sub-Himalayan range of North Eastern India, viz. Nagrakata in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal and Sarutari in Kamrup district of Assam. The weather of both the stations was different from each other especially on the basis of temperature (Tmax and Tmin) and total annual rainfall. Effect of such variations in weather condition had reflected on growth and yield performance of the seedlings. The collective mean yield of trees showing yield above the average block yield every years over eleven years (category I) was much lower at Nagrakata (44.84 g tree-1 tap-1) than Sarutari (53.29 g tree-1 tap-1) but it was opposite in category II where the trees showed above average yield for ten years over eleven years. In view of the yield performance at Nagrakata, the mother tree NGK 203 was the top ranker (69.79 g tree-1 tap-1) followed by NGK 47 (55.40 g tree-1 tap-1) with low CV (37.11% and 35.33% respectively) and appreciable winter yield contribution (53.92% and 52.17% respectively); at Sarutari, it was GWH 245 (86.74 g tree-1 tap-1) followed by GWH 286 (81.14 g tree-1 tap-1) with CV of 55.01 per cent and 40.35 per cent, respectively and winter yield contribution of 48.33 per cent and 43.61 per cent, respectively.     The bone health is an important part of healthy-life and longevity in current situation due to huge toxins and contaminants in the environment and food chain. Considering the importance of  bone health in the modern era, the present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of the Consciousness Energy Healing (The Trivedi Effect®) Treatment on Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM) in which the human bone osteosarcoma cells - MG-63 (ATCC® CRL-1427™) was grown for the assessment of bone cell proliferation and differentiation in vitro. The study parameters were assessed using cell viability by MTT assay, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and collagen synthesis on bone health using ELISA-based assay. The cell viability was significantly increased by 24% in the Biofield Energy Treated group supplemented with 10% charcoal-dextran with fetal bovine serum (CD-FBS) (G3) compared to the untreated cells group (G1). The level of ALP was significantly increased by 72% in the G3 group compared to the G1 group. Additionally, the level of collagen synthesis was significantly (p?0.001) increased by 19% in the G3 group compared to the G1 group. The overall results demonstrated that the Biofield Energy Treated DMEM has the potential for bone mineralization and bone cells growth as evident via increased levels of collagen and ALP. Therefore, the Biofield Energy Healing (The Trivedi Effect®) Treatment could be useful as a bone health promoter for various bone-related disorders like low bone density, osteogenesis imperfecta, and osteoporosis, etc

    Overall Skin Health Potential of the Biofield Energy Healing Based Herbomineral Formulation Using Various Skin Parameters

    The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of the Consciousness Energy Healing (The Trivedi Effect®) Treatment based test formulation and medium (DMEM) against various skin health parameters using three cell lines i.e., HFF-1, HaCaT, and B16-F10. The various study parameters viz. collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid, melanin, cell viability against UV-B induced stress, and wound healing were evaluated. The test formulation and DMEM were divided into two parts. One part of the test formulation and one part of the DMEM received the Consciousness Energy Healing Treatment by Janice Patricia Kinney and were defined as the Biofield Energy Treated samples, while the other parts were denoted as the untreated test samples. Cell viability using MTT assay showed more than 70% cells were viable in all the tested concentrations in three cells, indicating that the test formulation was safe and nontoxic. The collagen synthesis was significantly (p≤0.001) increased by 22.42% and 17.48% in the UT-DMEM + BT-Test formulation group at 0.63 and 2.5 µg/mL, respectively in relation to the UT-DMEM + UT-Test formulation group. The Elastin level was significantly (p≤0.001) increased by 28.41% in the BT-DMEM + BT-Test formulation group at 5 µg/mL compared to the untreated group. Hyaluronic acid at 0.63 µg/mL was increased significantly by 15.90% in the BT-DMEM + BT-Test formulation group compared to the untreated group. The level of melanin was reduced significantly by 9.25% and 7.26% in the BT-DMEM + BT-Test formulation group at 0.013 and 0.063 µg/mL, respectively in relation to the untreated group. Protection of skin cells after UV-B exposure data displayed that the cell viability was increased significantly by 17.88%, 20.10%, and 25.77% in the BT-DMEM + BT-Test formulation group at 0.625, 1.25, and 2.5 µg/mL, respectively compared to the UT-DMEM + UT-Test formulation group. Wound healing data exhibited significant wound closure and cell migration activities in the HFF-1 and HaCaT cells compared to the UT-DMEM + UT-Test formulation. Overall, the data suggests that the Biofield Energy Treated DMEM and test formulation demonstrated better responses compared to the untreated medium and test formulation with respect to the tested skin health parameters.     Structure-based assortment of herbal analogues against spike protein to restrict COVID-19 entry through hACE2 receptor : an in-silico approach

    On-going global pandemic COVID-19 has spread all over the world and has led to more than 1.97 million deaths till date. Natural compounds may be useful to protecting health in this perilous condition. Mechanism of shuttle entry of SARS-COV-2 virus is by interaction with viral spike protein with human angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 (ACE-2) receptor. To explore potential natural therapeutics, 213 important phytochemi-cals of nine medicinal plants Aconitum heterophyllum, Cassia angustifolia, Cymbopogon flexuosus, Cymbopogon martinii, Nux vomica, Phyllanthus urinaria, Swertia chirayita, Justicia adhatoda, Vetiveria zizanioides were selected for in-silico molecular docking against the spike protein of SARS-COV-2 and compared with recently prescribed drug chloroquine, ramdesivir, lopinavir and hydroxychloroquine. Results revealed that rhamnocitrin of P. urinaria, 1,5-dihydroxy-3,8-dimethoxyxanthone of S. chirayita and laevojunenol of V. zizanioides potentially binds with the receptor binding site of SARS-COV-2 spike glycoprotein and more robustly destabilized the RBD-ACE-2 binding over chloroquine, ramdesivir, lopinavir and hydroxychloroquine. It was also found that laevojunenol, rhamnocitrin, and 1,5-dihydroxy-3,8-dimethoxyxanthone qualified the criteria for drug-likeness as per Lipinski rule. After attachment of the selected phytochemical with the spike protein the affinity of the later towards ACE-2 was minimized and the effect of 1,5-dihydroxy-3,8-dimethoxyxanthone and laevojunenol was superior. Hence, rhamnocitrin of P. urinaria, 1,5-dihydroxy-3,8-dimethoxyxanthone of S. chirayita and laevojunenol of V. zizanioides, are potential therapeutic molecules for SARS-COV-2, which upon binding with spike protein changes the affinity of the spike towards ACE-2 and therefore restrict the entry of the virus into a human cell. Subsequent clinical validation is needed to confirm these phytochemicals as drugs to combat COVID-19

    Skin Rejuvenating Effect of Consciousness Energy Healing Treatment Based Herbomineral Formulation

    Currently in today’s world, herbomineral based cosmetic formulations are continuously gaining popularity globally because they have a high safety profile and skin protection effects. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of a Consciousness Energy Healing (The Trivedi Effect®) Treatment based test formulation and medium (DMEM) against different skin health parameters. The test formulation and DMEM were divided into two parts. One part of each received the Consciousness Energy Healing Treatment by James Jeffery Peoples and were termed as the Biofield Energy Treated samples, while the other samples were denoted as the untreated test items. MTT assay showed more than 70% viable cells, indicating that the test formulation was safe and nontoxic in all the tested concentrations in three cell lines. The percent cell proliferation by BrdU assay was increased by 251.30%, 373.36%, and 722.48% at 8.75, 17.5, and 35 µg/mL, respectively in the BT-DMEM + BT-Test formulation group compared to the UT-DMEM + UT-Test formulation group. Collagen synthesis was significantly (p≤0.001) increased by 32.96% in the UT-DMEM + BT-Test formulation group at 2.5 µg/mL with respect to the untreated group. Elastin was significantly (p≤0.001) increased by 69.49% and 17.13% in the UT-DMEM + BT-Test formulation and BT-DMEM + UT-Test formulation groups, respectively at 10 µg/mL compared to the untreated group. The level of hyaluronic acid was increased remarkably by 14.78% in the BT-DMEM + UT-Test formulation group at 1.25 µg/mL compared to the untreated group. Melanin was suppressed significantly by 14.64% and 18.25% in the UT-DMEM + BT-Test formulation and BT-DMEM + UT-Test formulation groups, respectively at 0.13 µg/mL compared to the untreated group. Skin cells protection against UV-B exposure revealed that the percent cell viability was increased by 4.23% in the BT-DMEM + BT-Test formulation group at 2.5 µg/mL compared to the untreated group. The wound healing activity by scratch assay showed significant wound closure and cell migration activity in the test formulation and DMEM group in both HFF-1 and HaCaT cells compared to the untreated group. Altogether, the data suggests that the Biofield Energy Treated DMEM and test formulation showed better responses compared to the untreated group.     Can the Intestine Perform Some Functions of the Kidney?

    The majority of patients in countries like India and Pakistan with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) die without renal replacement therapy due to lack of adequate resources. The use of the intestinal mucosa as a semipermeable membrane for removal of urea and creatinine from the body has been previously studied using various types of intestinal lavage for gut dialysis. This study was undertaken in an animal model to assess the applicability, cost of therapy, and acceptability of the method for potential application in humans. Renal failure was induced in six dogs by bilateral ureteric ligation along with six healthy controls. Dialysis fluid was introduced per rectum as an enema, which was repeatedly administered. Clearances of serum creatinine and urea were assessed. Mean recovery of creatinine and urea in dialysate in the present study was around 8.925 mmol/l and around 207.74 μmol//l, respectively. The mean clearances of serum creatinine and urea were, respectively, 0.0683 and 0.0633 ml/sec. Enteral dialysis was effective and, considering its minimal cost (monthly cost will be around US$35–40) vis a vis available methods, it holds promise for the treatment of patients with ESRD. The creation of an appendicostomy for repeated introduction of antegrade enemas would be a consideration

    Impact of cation-based mineral supplement characteristics on dairy farmer’s adoption: Insights from a field trial

    The attributes of innovation encompass the qualities, traits or characteristics inherent in an object reflecting the relative benefits of a novel idea. Assessing these attributes during the early stages of innovation within farmer management practices can offer valuable insights to the scientific community, enabling the formulation of policies to expedite farmer adoption. This study examined the perceived attributes of Cation-based Mineral Supplement (C-bMS). The research findings indicated that C-bMS demonstrates a moderate relative advantage (82.49%) compared to other mineral supplements in mitigating ruminal acidosis. It is highly compatible (80.84%), easy to comprehend and utilize, readily trialable (73.75%) with observable effects of feeding (78.75%), and predictable benefits (87.92%) for dairy farmers. Feeding C-bMS helps alleviate negative energy balance, increasing feed intake which in turn boosts milk production, ultimately reducing production costs by preventing ruminal acidosis and potentially doubling dairy farmers’ income. Raising general awareness among dairy farmers about ruminal acidosis, the consequences of negative energy balance, and the advantages of feeding C-bMS can be achieved through effective extension methods such as demonstrations and exhibitions
