The effect of PID control scheme on the course-keeping of ship in oblique stern waves

    Get PDF
Sailing in oblique stern waves causes a ship to make sharp turns and uncontrollable course deviation, which is accompanied by a large heel and sometimes leads to capsizing. Studying the control algorithm in oblique stern waves is imperative because an excellent controller scheme can improve the ship’s course-keeping stability. This paper uses the Maneuvering Modelling Group (MMG) method based on hydrodynamic derivatives and the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)-based self-navigation simulation to simulate ship navigation in waves. This study examines the effect of proportion-integral-derivative (PID) controller schemes on the stability of course maintenance based on hydrodynamic derivatives and 3DOF MMG methods. Then, the optimized PID control parameters are used to simulate the ship’s 6DOF self-propulsion navigation in oblique waves using the CFD method. The nonlinear phenomena during the process, such as side-hull emergency, slamming, and green water, are considered. This study found that the range of the control bandwidth should be optimized based on the ship\u27s heading and wave parameters

Entanglement dynamics of photon pairs emitted from quantum dot

We present a model to derive the state of the photon pairs generated by the biexciton cascade decay of a self-assembled quantum dot, which agrees well with the experimental result. Furthermore we calculate the concurrence and entanglement sudden death is found in this system with temperature increasing, which prevents quantum dot emits entangled photon pairs at a high temperature. The relationship between the fine structure splitting and the sudden death temperature is provided too

Phase Compensation Enhancement of Photon Pair Entanglement Generated from Biexciton Decays in Quantum Dots

Exciton fine-structure splittings within quantum dots introduce phase differences between the two biexciton decay paths that greatly reduce the entanglement of photon pairs generated via biexciton recombination. We analyze this problem in the frequency domain and propose a practicable method to compensate the phase difference by inserting a spatial light modulator, which substantially improves the entanglement of the photon pairs without any loss.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure

ChatGPT is a Potential Zero-Shot Dependency Parser

Pre-trained language models have been widely used in dependency parsing task and have achieved significant improvements in parser performance. However, it remains an understudied question whether pre-trained language models can spontaneously exhibit the ability of dependency parsing without introducing additional parser structure in the zero-shot scenario. In this paper, we propose to explore the dependency parsing ability of large language models such as ChatGPT and conduct linguistic analysis. The experimental results demonstrate that ChatGPT is a potential zero-shot dependency parser, and the linguistic analysis also shows some unique preferences in parsing outputs.Comment: 10 page

    N-Phenyl-N-{4-[5-(4-pyridyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl]phenyl}aniline

The title compound, C25H18N4O, is a non-planar bipolar ligand containing triphenylamine and 1,3,4-oxadiazole units. In the molecule, the benzene ring, the 1,3,4-oxadiazole ring, and the pyridine ring are twisted slightly with respect to each other [dihedral angle between the benzene and 1,3,4-oxadiazole rings = 9.4 (4) and between the 1,3,4-oxadiazole and pyridine rings = 3.0 (4)°]. Moreover, the dihedral angles between the two phenyl rings and the benzene ring are 88.2 (4) and 113.3 (4)°, and that between the two phenyl rings is 67.9 (4)°. The closest distances between the pyridine ring and the 1,3,4-oxadiazole and benzene rings in adjacent molecules are 3.316 and 3.363 Å, respectively, indicating the existence of π–π interactions
