754-756The (phenylthio)acetates of lanthanum(III), praseodymium(III ), neodymium(III), samarium(III), gadolinium(III), terbium(III) and dysprosium(III) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, spectroscopic, magnetic and thermal data. The IR data show that the carboxylato group is bonded to the metal ion in a bidentate chelate mode. A coordination number of seven is suggested for the rare earth metal ions in these complexes. Through-space interaction or sulphur has been suggested for the low M-L covalency in these complexes
