On the Application of the Incomplete QR Algorithm to the Analysis of Microstrip Antennas
In this paper, we provide some insight into the usage of fast, iterative, method-of-moments (MoM) solution of integral equations (IE) describing antennas and other metallic structures immersed in a planar multilayered environment. Based on the form of multilayered media Green's functions, we extract free-space terms, associated with direct rays within the analyzed structure, reducing the number of significant interactions required to describe the rest of MoM matrix. Next, we show that it is possible to construct a hybrid algorithm, where the fast multipole method (FMM) is used to the free-space matrix part, while the reduced rank incomplete QR (iQR) decomposition is applied to the remaining portion of the MoM matrix. This HM-iQR (hybrid multipole - incomplete QR) method is applied to a relatively large (in terms o f the number of unknowns) problem of plane wave scattering by a finite array of rectangular microstrip patches printed on a grounded dielectric slab. Computation results from the new algorithm are compared to literature data and to the results of the pure low rank IE-QR method

Predicting the type and size of soil strain due to cyclic loading with Plastic-Displacement model
W pracy przedstawiono rodzaj cyklicznego obciążania gruntu, opartego na
modelu plastyczności materiałów jednorodnych (Plastic-Displacement, P-D). W ramach
przedstawionego modelu dokonano analizy zjawiska cyklicznego, jednoosiowego ściskania
próbki gruntu w trzech etapach obciążania. Poddano analizie ił piaszczysty stabilizowany
wapnem hydratyzowanym.
This paper presents a model of cyclic loading based on soil plasticity model
homogeneous materials (Plastic-Displacement, P-D). The presented model analyzes the
phenomenon of cyclic uniaxial compression soil samples in three stages of loading. As a
soil analyzed in the paper was chosen sandy clay stabilized with hydrated lime also where
previously specifi ed physical characteristics of the sandy clay. The results of the studies
and the results of calculations using the model of P-D were presented. Also compare of
the results obtained by the model with the results of tests were conducted. The aim of this
study was to check on the need Eurocode 7 to place the design approach applicable to cyclic
loaded soils and propose the P-D model as a model appropriate for cyclic loading. Obtained
results of chemically stabilized material show the applicability of plastic-displacement as
well as for natural soils
Wpływ stabilizacji cementem na właściwości mechaniczne zagęszczonego gruntu spoistego – iłu pylastopiaszczystego
Ground improvement as a result of stabilization
with cement has its impact on soft soils
such as sandy clay in engineering constructions.
Stabilized soils are also used in foundation design,
where improvement of mechanical properties is
needed. Because of these reasons, knowledge of
physical and mechanical properties is needed. The
relationship stress – strain of soils stabilized with
cement is often unclear and strength characteristics
need to be clear. In this paper results of physical
and mechanical properties soil stabilized with
cement are presented.Stabilizacja
gruntów cementem pozwala na zastosowanie
słabych gruntów spoistych, np. iłu pylastopiaszczystego
w konstrukcjach inżynierskich, takich
jak nasypy albo podłoże gruntowe konstrukcji
drogowych. Grunty stabilizowane wykorzystuje
się również w fundamentowaniu, gdzie wymagane
jest ulepszenie właściwości mechanicznych
gruntów pod fundamentem. Z tego powodu istotne
jest posiadanie wiedzy na temat właściwości
mechanicznych gruntów stabilizowanych oraz
ich charakterystyk naprężenia – odkształcenia, co
w przypadku gruntów stabilizowanych cementem
jest problematyczne. W artykule przedstawiono
wyniki badań fizycznych i mechanicznych właściwości
gruntu stabilizowanego cementem
Zastosowanie cyklicznych badań CBR do wyznaczania przemieszczeń podłoża drogowego
The main aim of this paper was to approximate displacement of subgrade surface
under cyclic loading. Soil specimens were loaded by force, which caused displacement to 2.54 mm. After that, specimens were loaded by the same force a number times. This procedure allowed to define the kind of displacement occurring under cyclic loading. An analysis of individual displacement was done on paper. Soil specimen was sandy clay and sandy clay stabilized by the addition of lime, the amount of which equals 8%. The additional aim was to prove that stabilization of cohesive soils with lime can marked increase stiffness of soil and to show various load-unload conditions of stabilized and non-stabilized sandy clay.
