An introduction with lectures, seminar and multimedia elements

Students of human medicine at the Philipps University in Marburg are confronted with biochemistry already in their first term. They will be offered the classical teaching units, e.g. lectures and seminars, combined with the use of an internet based learning platform providing teaching courses, training examinations, and communication forums. The results of an online evaluating this teaching scenario revealed its high acceptance among the students and procured detailed hints for the further improvement of the teaching offer. Especially in small group seminars with compulsory attendance the share of self-determined learning should be increased in order to improve the effectiveness of the teaching. The didactically very well-designed courses offered by the learning platform were accepted and evaluated favourably by the students. Together with the functions of the communication forums these online offers present a possibility to increase the teaching quality and to improve communication and organisation.Studierende der Humanmedizin an der Philipps Universität Marburg haben bereits im ersten Semester Unterricht in Biochemie. Dabei werden die klassischen Lehrveranstaltungen, Vorlesung und Seminar, mit der Nutzung einer internetbasierten Lernplattform mit Lernkursen, Übungsklausur und Kommunikationsforum kombiniert. Eine Evaluation dieses Lehrszenarios durch eine Online-Befragung der Studierenden ergab eine hohe Akzeptanz mit detaillierten Hinweisen zur weiteren Verbesserung des Lehrangebots. Besonders beim anwesenheitspflichtigen Seminar mit Kleingruppenunterricht sollte zur Verbesserung der Lernwirksamkeit der Anteil an selbstbestimmtem Lernen weiter erhöht werden. Die didaktisch hochwertigen, über die Lernplattform angebotenen Lernkurse wurden von den Studierenden gut angenommen und positiv bewertet. Zusammen mit den Funktionalitäten des Kommunikationsforums sind diese Online-Angebote eine Möglichkeit zur Steigerung der Lehrqualität und Verbesserung von Kommunikation und Organisation
