    The aim of research was to known the effect by application Sinabung volcanic ash and chicken manure. The research was done at Tanjung Sari Medan district (±25 meters from sea) form October 2014 until January 2015. It was used Randomized Block Design with two factorials Sinabung volcanic ash (0, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 g / plot) and chicken manure (0, 500, 1000 g / plot) with three replicate. The result showed with application Sinabung volcanic ash was significant effect to steam diameters three week after planted, the numbers of pods seeds, the number of seed per plant, the seed weight per plant, yield of plant, the seed weight in one hundred. The chicken was significant effect to steam diameters three week after planted, the numbers of pods seeds, the number of seed per plant, the seed weight per plant, yield of plant, the seed weight in one hundred. The interaction with Sinabung volcanic ash and chicken manure was significant effect to steam diameters three week after planted, the numbers of pods seeds, the number of seed per plant, the seed weight per plant, yield of plant, the seed weight in one hundred

    The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of paclobutrazol and potassium fertilizer onthe growth and yield of peanuts. The research was conducted at Pasar I Tanjung Sari street, Medanwith the height of 25 metres above sea level, began from May until October 2013. The research wasarranged with a randomized block design with two factors. The first factor was concentration ofpaclobutrazol ( 0 ; 75 ppm ; 150 ppm and 225 ppm ) and the second was dose of KCl ( 0; 0.15 g ;0.3 g and 0.45 g ) . The parameters observed were plant height, number of ginofor, number ofproductive branches, number of unproductive branches, days to flowering, harvesting, pod weightper sample, number of filled pods per sample, number of empty pods per sample, weight of grainper sample, weight of grain per plot and weight of 100 grains. The results showed that plant height,number of ginofor, number of productive branches, days to flowering, pod weight per sample,number of filled pods per sample, weight of grain per sample, weight of grain per plot, and weightof 100 grains were significantly affected by paclobutrazol concentration. However all parametersobserved were unsignificantly affected by dose of KCl. There was also no interaction betweenpaclobutrazol concentration and dose of KCl

    Identifikasi Gulma Resisten Herbisida Paraquat Pada Lahan Jagung Di Kecamatan Tigabinanga Kabupaten Karo

    Paraquat is a herbicide commonly used for weed control in corn fields at Tigabinanga Subdistrict(TS), Karo District North Sumatera.The aim of this research was to identify paraquat resistant weedspecies (Echinochloa colonum and Eleusine indica) in corn fields at TS. This research consist of 3steps: seed collection, screening of paraquat resistant weed biotypes, and dose response test. Seed ofputative paraquat resistant biotypes were randomly collected from 28 corn fields in TS. Atscreening test, paraquat at the rate of 150 g a.i./ha was evaluated against weed populations to findresistant and susceptible biotypes. The experiment was performed in a randomized block designwith three replications. Dose response test was arranged in a randomized block design and fourreplications with eight levels of paraquat dose (0, 25, 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 g a.i./ha). Theresults showed that none of E. colonum TS population was resistant to paraquat whereas E. indicaTS populations were 2 population resistant, 4 population moderate resistant, and 21 populationsusceptible to paraquat. Resistant index of Benjire Village (ETB-14) and Perlamben Village (ETB-19) biotype were >5 and >9 times of susceptible population

    Growth Response of Deli Tobacco by Giving Mount Sinabung Volcanic Ash and Dose of Compost

    The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of Mount Sinabung volcanic ash and compost on the growth of Deli tobacco. The research was conducted at Balai Penelitian Tembakau Deli (BPTD) Sampali, Percut Sei Tuan District Deli Serdang Regency North Sumatera with the height of + 15 metres above sea level, began from July until September 2014. The research design was a randomized block design with two factors, the first factor was Mount Sinabung volcano ash (0 g, 500 g, 1000 g) and the second factor was dose of compost (0 g, 250 g, 500 g, 750 g). The parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaf, sand leaf thickness, feet leaf I thickness, leaf area, root length at 18 up to 50 days after transplanting(DAT) and dry weight of plant. The result showed that volcanic ash and dose of compost and also both of interaction were not show any significant effect on all parameters

    The growth and yield of a selected tobacco varieties (Nicotiana tabaccum L) treated withmycorhiza fungi arbuskular were evaluated in a field experiment. The aimed of the research was todetermine the effect of mycorhiza fungi on the growth and yield of several varieties of tobacco. Theresearch was conducted outdoor in the field at Balai Benih Penelitian Tembakau Deli Medan withaltitude of about 25 meters above sea level at the beginning of February until May 2012, with twotreatment factors. The first factors is Varieties of tobacco (Tobacco deli varieties F1-45, VirginiaTobacco varieties NC 95, Tobacco varieties Deli Deli-4), the second factors is mycorhiza fungiarbuskular (without mycorhiza fungi arbuskular, 15 g/plant, 30 g/plant and 45 g/plant). Theparameters measured were plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, and sand leaf length. Theresults showed that mycorhiza fungi arbuskular showed the best results for the parameters of plantheight, and steam diameter. Varieties significant effect on the parameters of plant height, stemdiameter, sand leaf weight. Combination treatment with different varieties mycorhiza significanteffect on plant height and stem diameter

    The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of the composition of Sinabung volcanic ashand cow manure in the planting medium on the growth and production of Deli tobacco. Theresearch was conducted at Balai Penelitian Tembakau Deli (BPTD) Sampali, Percut Sei TuanDistrict Deli Serdang Regency North Sumatera with the height of + 15 metres above sea level,began from June until July 2014. The research was arranged with a non-factorial randomized blockdesign which is consisting of 6 treatmentsratio of top soil : volcanic ash : cow manure that is 15kg:0kg: 0kg (P0), 12kg: 2.5kg: 0.5 kg (P1), 12kg: 2kg: 1 kg (P2), 12kg: 1.5kg: 1.5 kg (P3), 12kg: 1 kg:2 kg (P4), 12kg: 0.5kg: 2.5 kg (P5). The result showed that the composition of volcanic ash and cowmanurein the planting medium significantly affected the plant height, number of leaf, stemdiameter, sand leaf length (Z), first feet leaf length (VA), sand leaf width (Z), first feet leaf width(VA), sand leaf area (Z) and first feet leaf area (VA) at 18 days after transplanting up to 50 daysafter transplanting. The composition of Sinabung volcanic ash and cow manure in the plantingmedium unsignificantly affected the sand leaf thickness (Z) and first feet leaf thickness (VA)
