The bryoflora of Fernando de Noronha, Brasil
Twenty-two species of bryophytes are reported from Fernando de Noronha. One of these, Fissidens veracruzensis Pursell, has not been reported previously from Brasil
Pseudo-Class III malocclusion treatment with Balters' Bionator.
The aim of this article is to show the use of the Balters' Bionator in pseudo-Class III treatment. The importance of differentiating between true Class III and pseudo-Class III is emphasized. The therapeutic results of a Balters' Bionator appliance are presented in three case reports of subjects in the mixed dentition. In this stage of development it is possible to correct an isolated problem. The use of the Bionator III in this kind of malocclusion enabled the correction of a dental malocclusion in a few months and therapeutic stability of a mesially-positioned mandible encouraging favourable skeletal growth
Serum IgG2 levels are specifically associated with whole-body insulin-mediated glucose disposal in non-diabetic offspring of type 2 diabetic individuals. a cross-sectional study
.Preclinical studies suggested that IgG2c isotype may specifically impair skeletal muscle insulin
sensitivity in mice. In this study we investigated the association between serum levels of the four IgG
subclasses and insulin sensitivity in non-diabetic individuals. Total IgG, IgG1, IgG2, IgG3 and IgG4
levels were measured in 262 subjects. Whole-body insulin sensitivity was assessed by euglycemic
hyperinsulinemic clamp. IgG2 levels were positively correlated with BMI, waist circumference, 2-h postload
glucose levels and complement C3. Serum IgG2, but not IgG1, IgG3 and IgG4 levels were negatively
correlated with whole-body insulin sensitivity (r = −0.17; P = 0.003) and muscle insulin sensitivity index
(r = −0.16; P = 0.03) after adjustment for age and gender. No significant correlation was found between
IgG2 levels and hepatic insulin resistance assessed by HOMA-IR and liver IR index. In a multivariable
regression analysis including variables known to affect insulin sensitivity such as age, gender, BMI,
smoking, lipids, inflammatory markers, fasting and 2-h post-load glucose levels, IgG2 levels were
independently associated with insulin-stimulated glucose disposal (β = −0.115, 95% CI: −0.541 to
−0.024; P = 0.03). These data demonstrate the independent association between higher levels of IgG2
and decreased whole-body insulin sensitivity, thus confirming in humans the animal-based evidence
indicating the pathogenic role of IgG2 in insulin resistance

Home is the new gym: Exergame as a potential tool to maintain adequate fitness levels also during quarantine
Purpose. With the coronavirus outbreak, the preventive measures include staying at home and isolation, increasing sedentary behaviours and risk for worsening of chronic diseases. To explore alternative forms of home-based physical activity, the study aim was to evaluate physiological (heart rate [HR], respiratory exchange ratio [RER], oxygen consumption [ O2], energy expenditure [EE], metabolic equivalent task [MET]) and psychological (session rating of perceived exertion [sRPE], enjoyment) parameters of real (Zumba® class [ZC]) and exergame (Zumba® Fitness Rush [ZFR]) activities in relation to sex. Methods. Overall, 12 female (age: 24.7 ± 0.9 years) and 8 male (age: 25.3 ± 2.1 years) college students randomly performed 2 experimental 60-min sessions, ZC and ZFR, during which HR (expressed as percentage of individual maximal HR [%HRmax]), O2, RER, MET and EE were measured. After each session, sRPE and Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale (PACES) were used to monitor exercise intensity and enjoyment, respectively. Results. Main effects for sex (p = 0.02) and modality (p < 0.0001) emerged for %HRmax, with women showing higher values than men and ZC showing higher values than ZFR. EE presented main effects for sex (p < 0.0001) and modality (p = 0.0002), with higher values in men and in ZC. Main effect (p = 0.0001) for modality emerged also for O2 and MET, with higher values in ZC regardless of sex. No significant differences were observed for RER, sRPE, or PACES. Conclusions. Although ZC elicited higher cardiovascular and metabolic responses, ZFR, classified as a moderate-to-vigorous activity, could be used to maintain regular physical activity in a safe home environment during the coronavirus crisis
