    Biosynthesis of F-moc peptides for mammalian microglial cells proliferation and activation

    We have described previously a class of biomaterials that are made through spontaneous assembly of self-complementary Fmoc-oligopeptides by using a microbial lipase catalysed approach for its synthesis in vitro. In this work we have investigated the use of a Pseudomonas fluorescence lipase for the rapid and efficient synthesis in vitro of peptidic based hydrogel to be used for cell 3D growth. The peptide scaffolds are formed through the spontaneous assembly of amphiphatic self-complementary peptides throght the formation of b-sheet structures under physiological conditions, producing a hydrogel material. Such scaffolds have been employed as substrates for mammalian microglia cell outgrowth formation. These Fmoc peptides can be also tailored to a variety of applications.. The scaffolds can support microglial cells attachment proliferation, and cytokine production according to Elisa test evaluations
