This study was conducted in February 2016 in Dumai Waters, aimed to knows an illustration of sediment texture changes vertically in Dumai Waters. Sediments sample was collected by gravity core. Each sample collected was divided into 26 and 27 layers at 1 cm dense, therefore samples amount were 53 samples. Data was analyzed descriptively and was processed with cluster analysis. Based on the results, it was concluded that sediment type in Dumai Waters were categorized into fine sand, very fine sand, coarse silt, medium silt and fine silt. Cluster analysis showed of six groups sediment in research station. In station II all cluster group were found, while in station I only four were found. Each layer of different cluster showed diversity of sediment characteristic. This illustration indicated that difference of sedimentation process which caused by difference of waters condition from time to time

The study was conducted in January 2016 in the estuary of Dumai River, Province of Riau Indonesia, aims to determine the amount of the lithogeneus sediment, which flow through the Dumai River, and were deposited in the Estuary Dumai River. The estuary were divided into eight (8) sampling point. The result of this study showed that the Estuary of Dumai River is influenced by the water mass flow through the River (13.81 m3/s) which supply the lithogeneus sediment as much 4,644.03 gr/s or 165.6 tons/year and are deposited 0,0175 gr/cm2/day or 6,3 gr/cm2/year

Analysis Distribution of Sea Surface Temperature and Chlorophyll-a Concentration in Belawan Medan North Sumatra

Sea surface temperature (SST) and chlorophyll-a are important water qualityparameter in the sea, especially the coastal areas. The research was conducted inJanuary - March 2017 in the waters of Belawan, North Sumatera Province with theaim to determine the relationship of sea surface temperature and chlorophyllconcentrations-a.The method used is survey with direct measurements in the watersof Belawan, North Sumatera and using MODIS Aqua satellite image data in March2016 - February 2017. Sea surface temperature MODIS Aqua satellite image datain March 2016 - February 2017 ranged from 29.45 to 31.7oC and chlorophyll-arange of 0.48 to 2.62 mg / l. Field data sea surface temperature ranges from 26-30°Cand chlorophyll-a range of 2.08 to 17.62 mg / l. Interpretation of the data from theMODIS Aqua satellite imagery and field data to explain that the sea surfacetemperature and chlorophyll concentrations-a very weak, r = 0.1791. Data weremapped to show the variability of sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-aconcentrations March 2016 until February 2017

Analysis of Mangrove Forest Area Change Using Landsat Image Data in Rokan Hilir Regency Riau Province

The research has conducted in November 2016-April 2017 in Rokan Hilir Regency and was aimed to identify and inventory the data of mangrove forest area in 1994-2017 at Rokan Hilir Regency using Landsat image data analysis . The research was conducted by survey method. The quantitative method was used on the change of mangrove forest area observation. The result of 473 RGB composite on Landsat 5 and 564 RGB composite on Landsat 8 image showed the mangrove areas in 1994, 2004, 2007 and 2017 are 31,550 ha, 28,370 ha, 23,357 ha and 19,724 ha. There was a decrease of 3,180 ha in total of mangrove area in 1994-2004, in 2004-2007 was 5,013 ha and in 2007-2017 was of 3,633 ha which if added in the period of 23 years there was a decrease of 11,826 ha of mangrove area. The accuracy test of interpretation results and ground check results obtained a value of 100% accuracy, while the accuracy test between landsat images and the the results of classification obtained 95.6%

This study was conducted from March to April 2016 in the Laboratory of PhysicalOceanography Marine Science Department Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science University ofRiau. This study aimed to explain a relationship between current velocity and wave propagationspeed, and sediment particle size to the results of sediment transport volume. The method used wasan experimental design with 4 treatments. Current velocity and wave propagation speed wereconsists of 2 level factors (V1 and V2) and sediment particle size were consists of 2 level factors(D1 and D2). Observations used the flume tank and wave generator for 10 minutes. The resultsshow that there was an effect of current velocity, wave propagation, and sediment particle size tosediment transport volume. If the current velocity increase so sediment transport volume alsoincreased. While if sediment particle size increase the sediment transport volume decreased.Observations in the laboratory and calculation of sediment transport that used an Engelund-Hansenformula showed differences. Differences caused by oceanographic factors such as water andsediment density, gravity, water depth, salinity and consistency

Studies Of Lithogeneus Sediment Transport In The Estuary Of Mesjid River Dumai Regency Riau Province

The research was conducted on November 2015 in the Estuary of Mesjid River of Dumai Regency, Riau Province. The aims to determine the amount of lithogeneus sediment that was transported through. Estuary of Mesjid. Determination of sampling points by purposive sampling, Method of sampling, where the sampling point taken was considered to represent the state of the overall area of research. Based on this sampling locations were divided into 8 sampling points. Sampling was carried out by using a water bottle sampler vandorn into three depths, i,e surface, middle and bottom waters. Measurement of current performed at the sampling point 2. Accumulated of sediment to calculate the accumulation of by using sediment traps placed at the sampling point retrieval is done 2 times a day that is at low tide and low tide 1 and 2 that at the. The amount of lithogeneus sediment transport is computed the average amount of sediment transport that comes out for seven days. Then converted data of sediment transport for 1 year, The results showed that the waters of the estuary at low tide greatly influenced by mass of river water by the discharge of 29,76 m3 / sec which is capable of transporting lithogeneus sediment amounted to 78,176 ton / year, of the rate of accumulation of sediment per year for every hectare of the sediment will settle at 289,16 ton / ha / year in waters around the estuary

The study was conducted from January to February 2017 in Kampar River Estuary Area of Pelalawan District of Riau Province. Water sample analysis was done at the Chemical Oceanography Laboratory of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine. This study aims to determine the distribution of TSS (total suspended solid) at high tide and low tide. The method used is survey method and determination of station point using pur-posive sampling. The results showed that the total suspended solid (TSS) distribution during tidal to low tide with the average value of the lowest TSS content at station 2 was 91 mg/l and the highest was in station 7 of 670 mg/l. At low tide, the average val-ue of the lowest TSS content at station 1 is 65 mg/l and the highest is at station 6 of 448 mg/l
