Das Einheitsprinzip im DDR-Bildungswesen

Die Realisierung des Einheitsprinzips wird über die einzelnen Phasen der DDR-Bildungsentwicklung hauptsächlich unter zwei Aspekten analysiert: größere Gleichheit der Bildungschancen einerseits und Überwindung des traditionellen Dualismus zwischen höherer Bildung und Volksschul- sowie Berufsbildung andererseits. Sozialdemokratisch-reformpädagogische oder egalitär-kommunistische Auffassungen in der Bildungspolitik haben neben anderen Faktoren Entscheidungen über Differenzierungsformen im Interesse individueller Entwicklung jeweils entscheidend geprägt. In der Geschichte der DDR sind neben Erfolgen im Abbau sozialer Unterprivilegierung freilich Antinomien zwischen „equality" und „excellence" immer deutlicher zutage getreten, für die auf Grund politischer und ideologischer Erstarrung in der späten DDR bis zur Wende 1989 keine Lösung gefunden werden konnte. (DIPF/Orig.)Analyses of the implementation of the principle of unity in different phases in the history of the East German educational System basically focus on two aspects: greater equality in educational opportunities, on the one hand, and the departure from the traditional dualism between higher education and elementary and vocational education, on the other. Both Social Democratic-reform pedagogical and egalitarian-Communist conceptions of educational policy have - besides other factors - had a decisive impact on decisions concerning forms of differentiation in the interest of individual development. In the history of the GDR, successes in the reduction of the number of the socially underprivileged have always been accompanied by a clearer manifestation of antinomies between equality and excellence, - antinomies for which, due to the political and ideological paralysis of the late GDR no Solution had been found up to the fall of the political system in 1989.
