Трудовые миграции Болгар из Украины в европейский союз Сегодня и завтра: факторы и прогнозы

Labour migrations from Ukraine to the European Union are closely connected with the issues of interrelations between EU metropolitan countries and their Diasporas in Ukraine. Labour migration developments in independent Ukraine after 1991 have been moving towards their intensification. Migration trends among the Bulgarian Diaspora of South-Western Ukraine gained specific characteristics in the period of the world economic crisis. The enlargement of the EU in 2004 and 2007 led to the transformations in the preferences and choice factors of labour migrants, representatives of the Bulgarian Diaspora, while choosing the destination country in the EU. As a metropolitan country, Bulgaria has focused its policy on attracting its Diaspora groups, seeing them as labour and demographic potential for further development. This point of view is justified in many respects, though metropolitan country efforts must also be directed to the support of the Diaspora and its social, psychological, cultural and linguistic features.

    Institutional characteristics of hedge funds

This article reviews the institutional characteristics of hedge funds based on their comparison with traditional collective investment schemes and investment funds. The study arrives at the conclusion that hedge funds are highly leveraged boutique investment funds of a quasi-open nature that apply active portfolio management in order to obtain high absolute yield regardless of the behavior of financial markets when conducting their activity in an environment of little transparency and legislative and institutional regulation

Modeling the yield curve of spot interest rates under the conditions in Bulgaria

    Get PDF
The article investigate the accuracy and stability of quantitative models for modeling of the spot rate curve under the Bulgarian conditions. The empirical analysis does not single out the best model for modeling the spot interest curve although it shows that the model with the worst performance considering all quantitative criteria is the model of Nelson and Siegel. The empirical results show that despite their accuracy the models proposed by Svensson, Vasicek, and El Karoui, Cherif, Dicoum, and Savidan are not stable. On the other hand the model proposed by Martellini and Priaulet stands out with its greater performance stability. The combination of its satisfactory stability and ability to model correctly the bond prices makes this model the most appropriate method for modeling the spot interest rates curve in Bulgaria

Hedge funds - evolution and perspectives

    Get PDF
The article reviews and analyses the origins of the hedge fund sector and its development on a worldwide scale. The study reveals that hedge funds had arisen long before 1949 and shows that global financial crises do not occur due to hedge funds because the latter only exploit economic development disparities, the imperfections of financial systems, the inadequate regulatory frameworks or the inefficient financial market regulations that are already in place. The article shows that, although the development of the hedge fund industry is very sensitive to financial crises, their popularity as investment instruments has been increasing rather than decreasing since the last global economic crisis of 2008

On sl^(3)\widehat{sl}(3) reduction, quantum gauge transformations, and W{\cal W}- algebras singular vectors

The problem of describing the singular vectors of \cW_3 and \cW_3^{(2)} Verma modules is addressed, viewing these algebras as BRST quantized Drinfeld-Sokolov (DS) reductions of A2(1)A^{(1)}_2\,. Singular vectors of an A2(1)A^{(1)}_2\, Verma module are mapped into \W algebra singular vectors and are shown to differ from the latter by terms trivial in the BRST cohomology. These maps are realized by quantum versions of the highest weight DS gauge transformations.Comment: 9 page

Design Considerations of an Interactive Robotic Agent for Public Libraries

    Get PDF
The role of public libraries has long been recognized, rendering them a timeless offered form of public service. Users of a public library should have easy access to catalogs and full text of printed and electronic versions of books, magazines, and periodicals, as well as to multimedia databases. Every day, most public libraries are in service for several hours, thus computer-based library service applications provide a valuable service supplement. In this study, a robotic agent which guides users in libraries is proposed. The robotic agent is equipped with sound acquisition and reproduction chains and is capable of understanding some specific commands and guiding the users. The agent is currently able to understand commands and respond in English. Therefore, it may be useful for public libraries visited or remotely used by foreign, English speaking, users. Future work consists of the implementation of language packages for Turkish and the evaluation of field tests that will be held at the library and documentation center of Trakya University, Edirne, Turkey

INSPIRE: Evaluation of a Smart-Home System for Infotainment Management and Device Control

This paper gives an overview of the assessment and evaluation methods which have been used to determine the quality of the INSPIRE smart home system. The system allows different home appliances to be controlled via speech, and consists of speech and speaker recognition, speech understanding, dialogue management, and speech output components. The performance of these components is first assessed individually, and then the entire system is evaluated in an interaction experiment with test users. Initial results of the assessment and evaluation are given, in particular with respect to the transmission channel impact on speech and speaker recognition, and the assessment of speech output for different system metaphors.Comment: 4 page
