This article discusses the concept of migration by embracing a philosophical approach inspired by a comtemporary photography artist’s, Alicia Savage’s, artworks. As a multi-faceted concept, migration not only should be understood in the sense of physical mobilization but also, as this article argues, it might be considered in terms of “distance” and matter of deterritorialization which is experienced by the subject who embraces self-contemplation as a state of mind in Deleuzian sense.  Pointed out by Deleuze, line of flight that deterritorialized subject has drawn refers to creative processes, produced through art, music and literature which may lead the subject disjointing from the hegemonic rhetoric of society where he/she resides, without any need of a spatial mobilisation. In this regard, Alicia Savage’s photographic style can be thought of as a visual projection of this Deleuzian sense of deterritorialized subject.

Lichen planus is an inflammatory disorder that may involve skin and mucous mambranes. Linear lichen planus is a rare disorder occuring in approximately 0.2% of patients with lichen planus. We report two cases of linear lichen planus on the lower extremities which lesions followed the lines of Blaschko

Although basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common form of skin cancer, the scalp lesions of BCC have been rarely reported. Giant BCC is defined as a tumor larger than 5 cm in diameter and only 0.5-1 % of all BCCs achieve this size. We report a case of giant BCC on the scalp that was treated with topical coticosteroids and antifungal shampoo for five years. BCC should be considered in the differential diagnosis in erythematous plaque type lesions resistant to therapy with long duration localized on the scalp

Prevalence of cervical cytological abnormalities in Turkey

Objective: To evaluate retrospectively the prevalence of cervical cytological abnormalities in patient records obtained from healthcare centers in Turkey. Method: Demographic characteristics and data on cervical cytological abnormalities were evaluated from patients who underwent flap tests in healthcare centers in 2007. Results: Data were collected from 33 healthcare centers totaling 140 334 patients. Overall, the prevalence of cervical cytological abnormalities was 1.8%; the prevalence of ASCUS, ASC-H, LSIL, HSIL, and AGC was 1.07%, 0.07%, 0.3%, 0.17%, and 0.08%, respectively. The prevalence of preinvasive cervical neoplasia was 1.7% and the prevalence of cytologically diagnosed invasive neoplasia was 0.06%. Conclusion: The abnormal cervical cytological prevalence rate in Turkey is lower than in Europe and North America. This might be due to sociocultural differences, lack of population-based screening programs, or a lower HPV prevalence rate in Turkey
