Evidence for Bosonic Electroweak Corrections in the Standard Model
We present strong indirect evidence for the contribution of bosonic
electroweak corrections in the Standard Model. Although important conceptually,
these corrections give subleading contributions in current high energy
experiments, and it was previously thought that they are difficult to detect.
We also discuss the separate contribution of the Higgs boson.Comment: 9 pages (LaTeX + 3 PS figures, needs psfig

Physical renormalization condition for the quark-mixing matrix
We investigate the renormalization of the quark-mixing matrix in the
Electroweak Standard Model. We show that the corresponding counterterms must be
gauge independent as a consequence of extended BRS invariance. Using rigid
SU(2)_L symmetry, we proof that the ultraviolet-divergent parts of the
invariant counterterms are related to the field renormalization constants of
the quark fields. We point out that for a general class of renormalization
schemes rigid SU(2)_L symmetry cannot be preserved in its classical form, but
is renormalized by finite counterterms. Finally, we discuss a genuine physical
renormalization condition for the quark-mixing matrix that is gauge independent
and does not destroy the symmetry between quark generations.Comment: 20 pages, LaTeX, minor changes, references adde
Brief review on semileptonic B decays
We concisely review semileptonic B decays, focussing on recent progress on
both theoretical and experimental sides.Comment: 18 pages, 2 figures; version to be published in Mod. Phys. Lett.
QCD Corrections to the Radiative Decay B -> X_s gamma
In this short review, the calculation of the next-to-next-to-leading order
QCD corrections to the inclusive radiative decay B -> X_s gamma is described. I
summarize the salient features of the calculational framework adopted, discuss
the results obtained in the last few years, and indicate the technical tools
that made the NNLO calculations possible. I conclude by comparing the current
NNLO theoretical estimate for the branching ratio with the experimental
measurement and by briefly discussing the size and origin of the residual
theoretical uncertainty.Comment: 18 pages, 7 figures. Invited review for Modern Physics Letters
Physics at the Linear Collider
The physics at the planned colliders is discussed around three main
topics corresponding to different manifestations of symmetry breaking:
physics in the no Higgs scenario, studies of the properties of the Higgs and
precision tests of SUSY. A comparison with the LHC is made for all these cases.
The mode of the linear collider will also be reviewed.Comment: 31 pages, 12 figures. Invited talk given at the Fifth Workshop on

BODIPY-based conjugated polymers for broadband light sensing and harvesting applications
The synthesis of novel low band-gap polymers has significantly improved light sensing and harvesting in polymer-fullerene devices. Here the synthesis of two low band-gap polymers based on the 4,4-difluoro-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene core (BODIPY), and either bis(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (bis-EDOT) or its all-sulfur analogue bis(3,4-ethylenedithiathiophene) (bis-EDTT) are described. The polymers demonstrate ambipolar charge transport and are shown to be suitable for broadband light sensing and solar energy harvesting in solution-processable polymer-fullerene devices
