    THE ROLE OF UNIVERSITIES IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF BUSINESS TOURISM

    In this paper, we investigated the relationship between business tourism and universities, as important factors in the development of a country’s economy. Even though in Romania, business tourism takes place at a slower pace than in other European states, being at an incipient level, it represents a good opportunity for development, since it is the one of the growing and efficient component in the tourism industry, based on the income of urban hotels. Our case-study presents Suceava County having “Stefan cel Mare” University as a research pole that attracts tourists from different countries. The S.W.O.T. analysis we realized gave us the possibility to match strengths and weaknesses against the real threats and recommend some directions for the organization of impact events in the tourism sector

    THE ROLE OF HUMAN RESOURCES IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ENERGY SECTOR

    Sustainable development highlights the importance of energy sector in any economy by establishing specific targets in the field. Also, for a good human resources management were implemented strategies at national and international level being shown in this way their importance in sustainable development of states and global organizations. The role of human resources in sustainable development of the energy sector can be viewed from two points of view, on the one hand, is presented the influence of the energy sector on the social dimension and, on the other hand, is presented the influence of human resources on know-how, technologies and innovation in the energy field. This paper analysis some indicators for pointing out the role of human resources in energy sector and the results show that Romania has an increase in labor productivity while the active employed population in energy industry and supply is decreasing. We conclude by emphasizing the need for educational reform to recognize both human role in economy and the importance of the energy sector

    THE USE OF THE NEW INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES (NICTs) AT THE LEVEL OF BUSINESS IN THE TOURISM INDUSTRY FROM ROMANIA AND THE CEE-EU COUNTRIES

    All the tourism oriented organizations experience the greater and greater impact of what are known today as the new information and communication technologies (NICT). In this context, we considered appropriate to make a study on the degree of use of the new information technologies in Romania and the CEE-EU countries, countries reunited under this title (CEE), after the proposal of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), to which we chose to add the EU ending, in order to clarify from the beginning that we refer to the member states of the European Union, from the Central and Eastern Europe. In order to ensure the comparability of the results, we used the data provided by EUROSTAT, through the European Commission reports on the NICT use at the level of business from the tourism industry from Romania and the other countries in the region. The analysis results show that Romania and Bulgaria are the countries with the biggest deficiencies regarding the implementation of the new information and communication technologies at the level of the tourist accommodation establishments and food services.</p

    Nowadays, tourism destinations are more and more determined to build a unique and competitive identity and image in consumers’ minds. Even though the marketing of tourism destinations has been awarded an intended purpose, in practice there is a lack of steadiness, sometimes an unexplained deficiency of empirical academic research. In some countries, many without "a tradition in tourism", building a marketing strategy for travel destinations is based on artificial and without substance images/perceptions of real and potential tourists.     Statistical Confrontation of the Evolution of Tourism in the North East Region in Comparison with the other Regions of Romania

    The objective of this paper is the analysis of the tourist activity in the North East region, compared to the other development regions of Romania, throughout the period 1990-2014.. The research was performed through a system of tourism indicators applied in the Romanian regions, obtained from the National Institute of Statistics. This comparative analysis was carried out using the statistical method called ANOVA and the Post Hoc – Games-Howell test. In order to achieve the objective, our study implied the analysis of several relevant indicators for tourism: the accommodation capacity, the number of arrivals, the number of overnight stays, the length of stay and the net use of accommodation capacity index. Processing the data related to a period of twenty-five years, the analysis allowed to draw conclusions about the existence of differences between the values of indicators across regions. The comparative analysis of the available data reflected a number of differences between the North East region and the other regions of Romania, the North East region recording lower values for the analyzed indicators, while South East and Central regions hold significantly higher values than the other regions, for the majority of indicators

Nowadays, travel and tourism industry is, worldwide, the most dynamic sector and the most important generator of jobs. Since it creates an unprecedented number of jobs, tourism provides part-time and seasonal jobs for people looking for a flexible job. But lately, employers in the tourism field argue that one way to achieve sustained employment in this industry is implementing the ”multiple qualifications” policy, meaning that they are searching for staff with several trainings.     The fact that tourists who visit Bucovina relate more and more to quality standards promoted by the EU, forces the guesthouses administrators to point a big part of their attention towards creating a memorable holiday atmosphere. Since we intend, periodically, to check the balance of power between visitors' expectations and what the area can offer in terms of tourism, the accommodations from Vama and Pojorîta – Bucovina’s standard in hospitality - were subjected to a careful qualitative analysis, in the period April-May 2014. Although we could highlight a number of positive aspects on the local hospitality, cleanliness and the traditional aspects present in the guesthouses, some improvements regarding mainly the qualifications and fidelity of staff, touristic signalling and accessibility, leisure diversification, feedback and inducting a home sentiment to tourists are, however, required
