    The role of energy-momentum conservation in emission of Cherenkov gluons

    The famous formula for the emission angle of Cherenkov radiation should be modified when applied to hadronic reactions because of recoil effects. They impose the upper limit on the energy of the gluon emitted at a given angle. Also, it leads to essential corrections to the nuclear refractive index value as determined from the angular position of Cherenkov rings.Comment: 6

    The luminosity distribution in the effective γγ\gamma\gamma mass at photon collider has usually two peaks which are well separated: high energy peak with mean energy spread 5-7% and wide low energy peak.The low energy peak depends strongly on details of design it is unsuitablefor the study of New Physics phenomena.     Single Leptoquark Production at e+ee^+e^- and γγ\gamma\gamma Colliders

    We consider single production of leptoquarks (LQ's) at e+ee^+e^- and γγ\gamma\gamma colliders, for two values of the centre-of-mass energy, s=500\sqrt{s}=500 GeV and 1 TeV. We find that LQ's which couple within the first generation are observable for LQ masses almost up to the kinematic limit, both at e+ee^+e^- and γγ\gamma\gamma colliders, for the LQ coupling strength equal to αem\alpha_{em}. The cross sections for single production of 2nd2^{nd}- and 3rd3^{rd}-generation LQ's at e+ee^+e^- colliders are too small to be observable. In γγ\gamma\gamma collisions, on the other hand, 2nd2^{nd}-generation LQ's with masses much larger than s/2\sqrt{s}/2 can be detected. However, 3rd3^{rd}-generation LQ's can be seen at γγ\gamma\gamma colliders only for masses at most s/2\sim\sqrt{s}/2, making their observation more probable via the pair production mechanism.Comment: plain TeX, 14 pages, 6 figures (not included but available on request), some minor changes to the text, one reference added, figures and conclusions unchanged, UdeM-LPN-TH-93-152, McGill-93/2

    We consider two coupled problems. We study the dependence on photon virtuality Q2Q^2 for the semihard quasi--elastic photoproduction of neutral vector mesons on a quark, gluon or real photon (at sp2,  Q2;  p2μ2(0.3s\gg p_{\bot}^2,\;Q^2; \; p_{\bot}^2\gg \mu^2 \approx (0.3 GeV)2^2). To this end we calculate the corresponding amplitudes (in an analytical form) in the lowest nontrivial approximation of perturbative QCD. It is shown that the amplitude for the production of light meson varies very rapidly with the photon virtuality near Q2=0Q^2=0. We estimate the bound of the pQCD validity region for such processes. For the real incident photon the obtained bound for the ρ\rho meson production is very high. This bound decreases fast with the increase of Q2Q^2, and we expect that the virtual photoproduction at HERA gives opportunity to test the pQCD results. The signature of this region is discussed. For the hard Compton effect the pQCD should work good at not too high pp_{\bot}, and this effect seems measurable at HERA.Comment: ReVTeX, 36 pages, 5 Postscript figures, uses epsf.st

    Full one-loop QCD and electroweak corrections to sfermion pair production in γγ\gamma \gamma collisions

    We have calculated the full one-loop electroweak (EW) and QCD corrections to the third generation scalar-fermion pair production processes e+eγγfi~fi~ˉ(f=t,b,τ)e^+e^- \to \gamma \gamma \to \tilde{f_i}\bar{\tilde{f_i}} (f=t,b,\tau) at an electron-positron linear collider(LC) in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). We analyze the dependence of the radiative corrections on the parameters such as the colliding energy s^\sqrt{\hat s} and the SUSY fundamental parameters AfA_f, tanβ\tan \beta, μ\mu, MSUSYM_{SUSY} and so forth. The numerical results show that the EW corrections to the squark-, stau-pair production processes and QCD corrections to the squark-pair production processes give substantial contributions in some parameter space. The EW relative corrections to squark-pair production processes can be comparable with QCD corrections at high energies. Therefore, these EW and QCD corrections cannot be neglected in precise measurement of sfermion pair productions via γγ\gamma\gamma collision at future linear colliders.Comment: to be appeared in Phys.     Field-dependent diamagnetic transition in magnetic superconductor Sm1.85Ce0.15CuO4ySm_{1.85} Ce_{0.15} Cu O_{4-y}

    The magnetic penetration depth of single crystal Sm1.85Ce0.15CuO4y\rm{Sm_{1.85}Ce_{0.15}CuO_{4-y}} was measured down to 0.4 K in dc fields up to 7 kOe. For insulating Sm2CuO4\rm{Sm_2CuO_4}, Sm3+^{3+} spins order at the N\'{e}el temperature, TN=6T_N = 6 K, independent of the applied field. Superconducting Sm1.85Ce0.15CuO4y\rm{Sm_{1.85}Ce_{0.15}CuO_{4-y}} (Tc23T_c \approx 23 K) shows a sharp increase in diamagnetic screening below T(H)T^{\ast}(H) which varied from 4.0 K (H=0H = 0) to 0.5 K (H=H = 7 kOe) for a field along the c-axis. If the field was aligned parallel to the conducting planes, TT^{\ast} remained unchanged. The unusual field dependence of TT^{\ast} indicates a spin freezing transition that dramatically increases the superfluid density.Comment: 4 pages, RevTex

    The internal magnetic field in superconducting ferromagnets

    We have measured the nonlinear response to the ac magnetic field in the superconducting weak ferromagnet Ru-1222, at different regimes of sample cooling which provides unambiguous evidence of the interplay of the domain structure and the vorticity in the superconducting state. This is {\em direct} proof of coexistence of ferromagnetic and superconductive order parameters in high-TcT_c ruthenocuprates.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figure

    Evaluating free flux flow in low-pinning molybdenum-germanium superconducting films

    Vortex dynamics in molybdenum-germanium superconducting films were found to well approximate the unpinned free limit even at low driving forces. This provided an opportunity to empirically establish the intrinsic character of free flux flow and to test in detail the validity of theories for this regime beyond the Bardeen-Stephen approximation. Our observations are in good agreement with the mean-field result of time dependent Ginzburg-Landau theory.     Dependence of the critical temperature on the Higgs field reparametrization

    We show that, despite of the reparametrization symmetry of the Lagrangian describing the interaction between a scalar field and gauge vector bosons, the dynamics of the Higgs mechanism is really affected by the representation gauge chosen for the Higgs field. Actually, we find that, varying the parametrization for the two degrees of freedom of the complex scalar field, we obtain different expressions for the Higgs mass: in its turn this entails different expressions for the critical temperatures, ranging from zero to a maximum value, as well as different expressions for other basic thermodynamical quantities.Comment: revtex, 12 pages, 2 eps figure
