Remarks on Time-Space Noncommutative Field Theories
We propose a physical interpretation of the perturbative breakdown of
unitarity in time-like noncommutative field theories in terms of production of
tachyonic particles. These particles may be viewed as a remnant of a continuous
spectrum of undecoupled closed-string modes. In this way, we give a unified
view of the string-theoretical and the field-theoretical no-go arguments
against time-like noncommutative theories. We also perform a quantitative study
of various locality and causality properties of noncommutative field theories

Testing of aircraft passenger seat cushion materials. Full scale, test description and results, volume 1
Eight different seat cushion configurations were subjected to full-scale burn tests. Each cushion configuration was tested twice for a total of sixteen tests. Two different fire sources were used. They consisted of one liter of Jet A fuel for eight tests and a radiant energy source with propane flame for eight tests. Both fire sources were ignited by a propane flame. During each test, data were recorded for smoke density, cushion temperatures, radiant heat flux, animal response to combustion products, rate of weight loss of test specimens, cabin temperature, and for the type and content of gas within the cabin atmosphere. When compared to existing passenger aircraft seat cushions, the test specimens incorporating a fire barrier and those fabricated from advanced materials, using improved construction methods, exhibited significantly greater fire resistance
Superloop Equations and Two Dimensional Supergravity
We propose a discrete model whose continuum limit reproduces the string
susceptibility and the scaling dimensions of -minimal superconformal
models coupled to -supergravity. The basic assumption in our presentation
is a set of super-Virasoro constraints imposed on the partition function. We
recover the Neveu-Schwarz and Ramond sectors of the theory, and we are also
able to evaluate all planar loop correlation functions in the continuum limit.
We find evidence to identify the integrable hierarchy of non-linear equations
describing the double scaling limit as a supersymmetric generalization of KP

Consistent and covriant anomalies in the overlap formulation of chiral gauge theories
In this letter we show how the covariant anomaly emerges in the overlap
scheme. We also prove that the overlap scheme correctly reproduces the anomaly

Animal Exposure During Burn Tests
An animal exposure test system (AETS) was designed and fabricated for the purpose of collecting physiological and environmental (temperature) data from animal subjects exposed to combustion gases in large scale fire tests. The AETS consisted of an open wire mesh, two-compartment cage, one containing an exercise wheel for small rodents, and the other containing one rat instrumented externally for electrocardiogram (ECG) and respiration. Cage temperature is measured by a thermistor located in the upper portion of the rat compartment. Animal activity is monitored by the ECG and the records indicate an increase in EMG (electromyograph) noise super-imposed by the increased activity of the torso musculature. Examples of the recordings are presented and discussed as to their significance regarding toxicity of fire gases and specific events occurring during the test. The AETS was shown to be a useful tool in screening materials for the relative toxicity of their outgassing products during pyrolysis and combustion
Some Global Aspects of Duality is String Theory
We explore some of the global aspects of duality transformations in String
Theory and Field Theory. We analyze in some detail the equivalence of dual
models corresponding to different topologies at the level of the partition
function and in terms of the operator correspondence for abelian duality. We
analyze the behavior of the cosmological constant under these transformations.
We also explore several examples of non-abelian duality where the classical
background interpretation can be maintained for the original and the dual
theories. In particular we construct a non-abelian dual of which

Animal exposure during burn tests
An animal exposure test system has been designed and fabricated for the purpose of collecting physiological and environmental (temperature) data from animal subjects exposed to combustion gases in large scale fire tests. The AETS consists of an open wire mesh, two-compartment cage, one containing an exercise wheel for small rodents, and the other containing one rat instrumented externally for electrocardiogram and respiration. The ECG and respiration sensors are located in a belt placed around the torso of the subject, electrode wires forming an umbilical to a connector in the top of the compartment. A cable extends from the connector to the power supply and signal conditioning electronics. These are connected to a dual-beam oscilloscope for real time monitoring and a magnetic tape recorder having three or more channels. Endpoints observed are bradycardia, cardiac arrhythmias, changes in respiratory pattern, respiratory arrest and cardiac arrest. The ECG record also appears to be a good method of monitoring animal activity as indicated by an increase in EMG noise superimposed on the record during increased activity of the torso musculature. Photometric observations of selected, optically bright quasars for Space Interferometry Mission and other future celestial reference frames
Photometric observations of 235 extragalactic objects that are potential
targets for the Space Interferometry Mission (SIM) are presented. Mean B, V, R,
I magnitudes at the 5% level are obtained at 1 - 4 epochs between 2005 and 2007
using the 1-m telescopes at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory and Naval
Observatory Flagstaff Station. Of the 134 sources which have V magnitudes in
the Veron & Veron-Cetty catalog a difference of over 1.0 mag is found for the
observed-catalog magnitudes for about 36% of the common sources, and 10 sources
show over 3 mag difference. Our first set of observations presented here form
the basis of a long-term photometric variability study of the selected
reference frame sources to assist in mission target selection and to support in
general QSO multi-color photometric variability studies.Comment: 40 pages, 13 figures, 4 table
Mechanisms of action of brief alcohol interventions remain largely unknown - a narrative review.
A growing body of evidence has shown the efficacy of brief intervention (BI) for hazardous and harmful alcohol use in primary health care settings. Evidence for efficacy in other settings and effectiveness when implemented at larger scale are disappointing. Indeed, BI comprises varying content; exploring BI content and mechanisms of action may be a promising way to enhance efficacy and effectiveness. Medline and PsychInfo, as well as references of retrieved publications were searched for original research or review on active ingredients (components or mechanisms) of face-to-face BIs [and its subtypes, including brief advice and brief motivational interviewing (BMI)] for alcohol. Overall, BI active ingredients have been scarcely investigated, almost only within BMI, and mostly among patients in the emergency room, young adults, and US college students. This body of research has shown that personalized feedback may be an effective component; specific MI techniques showed mixed findings; decisional balance findings tended to suggest a potential detrimental effect; while change plan exercises, advice to reduce or stop drinking, presenting alternative change options, and moderation strategies are promising but need further study. Client change talk is a potential mediator of BMI effects; change in norm perceptions and enhanced discrepancy between current behavior and broader life goals and values have received preliminary support; readiness to change was only partially supported as a mediator; while enhanced awareness of drinking, perceived risks/benefits of alcohol use, alcohol treatment seeking, and self-efficacy were seldom studied and have as yet found no significant support as such. Research is obviously limited and has provided no clear and consistent evidence on the mechanisms of alcohol BI. How BI achieves the effects seen in randomized trials remains mostly unknown and should be investigated to inform the development of more effective interventions
Feynman Path Integral on the Noncommutative Plane
We formulate Feynman path integral on a non commutative plane using coherent
states. The propagator for a free particle exhibits UV cut-off induced by the
