Optical properties of a two-dimensional electron gas at even-denominator filling fractions
The optical properties of an electron gas in a magnetic field at filling
fractions \nu = {1\over 2m} (m=1,2,3...) are investigated using the composite
fermion picture. The response of the system to the presence of valence-band
holes is calculated. The shapes of the emission spectra are found to differ
qualitatively from the well-known electron-hole results at zero magnetic field.
In particular, the asymmetry of the emission lineshape is found to be sensitive

Coupled-Cluster Approach to Electron Correlations in the Two-Dimensional Hubbard Model
We have studied electron correlations in the doped two-dimensional (2D)
Hubbard model by using the coupled-cluster method (CCM) to investigate whether
or not the method can be applied to correct the independent particle
approximations actually used in ab-initio band calculations. The double
excitation version of the CCM, implemented using the approximate coupled pair
(ACP) method, account for most of the correlation energies of the 2D Hubbard
model in the weak () and the intermediate regions (). The error is always less than 1% there. The ACP approximation gets
less accurate for large () and/or near half-filling.
Further incorporation of electron correlation effects is necessary in this
region. The accuracy does not depend on the system size and the gap between the
lowest unoccupied level and the highest occupied level due to the finite size
effect. Hence, the CCM may be favorably applied to ab-initio band calculations

Tourism income and economic growth in Greece: Empirical evidence from their cyclical components
This paper examines the relationship between the cyclical
components of Greek GDP and international tourism income for
Greece for the period 1976–2004. Using spectral analysis the authors
find that cyclical fluctuations of GDP have a length of about nine
years and that international tourism income has a cycle of about
seven years. The volatility of tourism income is more than eight
times the volatility of the Greek GDP cycle. VAR analysis shows that
the cyclical component of tourism income is significantly influencing
the cyclical component of GDP in Greece. The findings support the
tourism-led economic growth hypothesis and are of particular
interest and importance to policy makers, financial analysts and
investors dealing with the Greek tourism industry
Analysis of particle production in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions within a two-source statistical model
The experimental data on hadron yields and ratios in central lead-lead and
gold-gold collisions at 158 AGeV/ (SPS) and AGeV (RHIC),
respectively, are analysed within a two-source statistical model of an ideal
hadron gas. A comparison with the standard thermal model is given. The two
sources, which can reach the chemical and thermal equilibrium separately and
may have different temperatures, particle and strangeness densities, and other
thermodynamic characteristics, represent the expanding system of colliding
heavy ions, where the hot central fireball is embedded in a larger but cooler
fireball. The volume of the central source increases with rising bombarding
energy. Results of the two-source model fit to RHIC experimental data at
midrapidity coincide with the results of the one-source thermal model fit,
indicating the formation of an extended fireball, which is three times larger
than the corresponding core at SPS.Comment: 6 pages, REVTEX
Continuation-Passing C: compiling threads to events through continuations
In this paper, we introduce Continuation Passing C (CPC), a programming
language for concurrent systems in which native and cooperative threads are
unified and presented to the programmer as a single abstraction. The CPC
compiler uses a compilation technique, based on the CPS transform, that yields
efficient code and an extremely lightweight representation for contexts. We
provide a proof of the correctness of our compilation scheme. We show in
particular that lambda-lifting, a common compilation technique for functional
languages, is also correct in an imperative language like C, under some
conditions enforced by the CPC compiler. The current CPC compiler is mature
enough to write substantial programs such as Hekate, a highly concurrent
BitTorrent seeder. Our benchmark results show that CPC is as efficient, while
using significantly less space, as the most efficient thread libraries

Rare Decays
The rare decays of the meson have had a long tradition as a laboratory
for testing the symmetry properties of the weak interactions, and the manner in
which these symmetries are broken by higher order effects. Present--day
interest is focussed on decays that are suppressed by --symmetry or GIM
symmetry. Such decays, in the standard theory, are sensitive to effects of the
virtual top quark, and could also reveal new interactions transcending the
standard model. In addition, the radiative decays of the meson have become
a useful testing--ground for effective Lagrangians describing the low energy

The Intentional Use of Service Recovery Strategies to Influence Consumer Emotion, Cognition and Behaviour
Service recovery strategies have been identified as a critical factor in the success of. service organizations. This study develops a conceptual frame work to investigate how specific service recovery strategies influence the emotional, cognitive and negative behavioural responses of . consumers., as well as how emotion and cognition influence negative behavior. Understanding the impact of specific service recovery strategies will allow service providers' to more deliberately and intentionally engage in strategies that result in positive organizational outcomes. This study was conducted using a 2 x 2 between-subjects quasi-experimental design. The results suggest that service recovery has a significant impact on emotion, cognition and negative behavior. Similarly, satisfaction, negative emotion and positive emotion all influence negative behavior but distributive justice has no effect
