Case Report of Suspected Rhabdomyolysis during Treatment with Trabectedin in a Patient with Metastatic Leiomyosarcoma

Trabectedin has been reported to occasionally induce rhabdomyolysis. In the present case, continuation of trabectedin was maintained despite suspected rhabdomyolysis related to trabectedin. Creatinine kinase levels dropped to normal levels. We suggest that continuation of trabectedin despite suspected rhabdomyolysis was safe in this specific patient

Prevalence of and Factors Associated with Negative Microscopic Diagnosis of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis in Rural Peru.

Cutaneous leishmaniasis is endemic to South America where diagnosis is most commonly conducted via microscopy. Patients with suspected leishmaniasis were referred for enrollment by the Ministry of Health (MoH) in Lima, Iquitos, Puerto Maldonado, and several rural areas of Peru. A 43-question survey requesting age, gender, occupation, characterization of the lesion(s), history of leishmaniasis, and insect-deterrent behaviors was administered. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was conducted on lesion materials at the Naval Medical Research Unit No. 6 in Lima, and the results were compared with those obtained by the MoH using microscopy. Brownian Dynamics Simulation of Polydisperse Hard Spheres

Standard algorithms for the numerical integration of the Langevin equation require that interactions are slowly varying during to the integration timestep. This in not the case for hard-body systems, where there is no clearcut between the correlation time of the noise and the timescale of the interactions. Starting from a short time approximation of the Smoluchowsky equation, we introduce an algorithm for the simulation of the overdamped Brownian dynamics of polydisperse hard-spheres in absence of hydrodynamics interactions and briefly discuss the extension to the case of external drifts

Anomalous Crossing Frequency in Odd Proton Nuclei

A generic explanation for the recently observed anomalous crossing frequencies in odd proton rare earth nuclei is given. As an example, the proton ${1\over 2} [541]$ band in $^{175}$Ta is discussed in detail by using the angular momentum projection theory. It is shown that the quadrupole pairing interaction is decisive in delaying the crossing point and the changes in crossing frequency along the isotope chain are due to the different neutron shell fillings

Formation of a quasiphosphonium salt in reaction of phosphorylsulfenyl chlorides with 1,2,3-diazaphospholes was established by dynamic 31P NMR spectroscopy. The salt is formed by addition of 2 mol of phosphorylsulfenyl chloride to the σ2λ3P=C endocyclic fragment by the 1,1- and 1,2-addition schemes.
