Space shuttle elevon seal panel mechanism

The orbiter elevon seal panel mechanism controls the position of fairing panels between the orbiter wing and elevon. Early mechanism designs used linkages which approximately matched the panel motion to elevon position, depending on panel deflections to maintain sealing. These linkages were refined during orbiter development to match panel motion to elevon motion more exactly, thus reducing panel deflections, loads, and weight. Changes to the adjacent cove seal resulted in the use of curved tension compression links. Mechanism temperatures up to 750 F (locally) posed difficulties in bearing lubrication. Despite the adverse effect of the many fabrication tolerances, the system successfully prevented the entry of 1200 F hot gases into the wing/elevon joint

Agricultural development in the north Kimberley : terms, conditions and farm size recommendations

There are approximately 1,250,000 hectares of land in this area of Kimberley which may be sown to pastures such as Townsville Stylo, other Stylosanthes species or to other introduced pastures. The report recommends that grazing properties comprising 10,000 ha. of land capable of growing improved pastures, together with 60,000 ha. of native pasture land, should be established in the area. Limits of Abductivism About Logic

I argue against abductivism about logic, which is the view that rational theory choice in logic happens by abduction. Abduction cannot serve as a neutral arbiter in many foundational disputes in logic because, in order to use abduction, one must first identify the relevant data. Which data one deems relevant depends on what I call one's conception of logic. One's conception of logic is, however, not independent of one's views regarding many of the foundational disputes that one may hope to solve by abduction
